Spirits In The Material World

2nd place in Derby #207: The Letter O, with 702 votes!

She loved her flowers more than anything. Each day she’d bend in the garden, back aching, fingers bleeding, her own blood from where she’d tear a nail. It was only force of will that kept those exotic plants alive in such a harsh climate, but on the morning she woke to find the Snowflake clan had murdered them all, that force of will turned inward, and her power to make life in the dust changed to the power to bring death to the most mighty.

First, she went to Tokyo, where she took the heads of those dangerous scholars who trained meteorologists. Then, to Bangkok, because there was this great little dumpling place and she was kinda hungry. Then, back to Tokyo, and the death of the man who ordered the killing when he pointed at the map and said “Here there will be snow tomorrow.”

But that was just the limbs of the beast. For the next few years, she moved through the East: Tibet, China, the mountains of India and the Mongolian steppes. Everywhere she could find the cold, there she struck, not leaving until all the snow turned to warm puddles over mud. And at last, after what felt like a thousand years, she found what could have been the twin of the snowflake that turned her garden into a wasteland.

And that was the day they all learned that beneath the sword of a master, even snow could bleed.

Wear this shirt: while organizing a “Vengeful Women Left For Dead” film festival. Go on, off the top of your head, you can probably name at least five. Even if you only count “Kill Bill” once.

Don’t wear this shirt: with the sleeves cut off. Onyrōs aren’t really going to want to associate with a wifebeater.

This shirt tells the world: “I probably saw that Hausu re-release in the theater.”

What are Top Comments?

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
