Thankfully, there’s so many places on the Internet where community can happen. With just a few quick searches, everyone can find a place to belong. Granted, it is sort of dumb to be in some celebrity-based forum that keeps track of how many pieces of toast Evangeline Lilly said she had with her breakfast this morning, but, be fair. If that same information had been on the screen during the Lost finale, would that suddenly make it better? And yet, there’s a whole wiki all about just those very things. Why don’t the community-hating people say OH I HATE WIKIS THEY’RE FOR NOTHING BUT USELESS TRIVIA?

Oh, really? People DO say that?. Well, what can you expect. After all, haters gonna hate. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Star Trek guy who hates Jedi or a Stargate guy who hates Klingons, everybody has to carve out their own little Internet turf through comment and song, just like birds define their personal space through violent uprising and hostage taking. And that’s why they’re called nature’s guerrillas. Sorry, gorillas, maybe you can be nature’s birds.

From “The medium is the message” to “don’t hate the player, hate the game”, it all comes down to the same thing. If you don’t like it, who’s forcing you to use it? And don’t say us because it’s really just sort of a suggestion.
