Re: The Riveter
I want to say up front, if this comes across as distasteful, or attempting to profit off of a tragedy, that is not my intent. If you’ve been around a while, you may know that I have a track record for being grumpy when someone tries to sell tshirts when a celebrity dies or a tragedy occurs. It makes me sick.
This is a shirt about the hero and riveter, Emma Gonzalez, and her message about gun reform, which I am all for helping to spread in any little way I can. I understand that the message was born from tragedy (as well as inaction and greed) but I feel like the goal of spreading that message is different than, say, making david bowie shirts the day he died.
In the unlikely event that this isn’t rejected and happens to print, I would donate the bulk of my payment to MARCH FOR OUR LIVES. I would also be down with shirt.woot matching it! I am a lowly teacher by day, and couldn’t make a worthwhile contribution any other way.
If this is rejected, I would totally understand why. I realize it walks along a thin line. I just felt moved to make something, and when thinking on the theme of a SUPERPERSONS derby, I could think of no better representation than Emma.
