ILoveEwe wrote:Is...this...true? Haha I love the juxtaposition of those sweet "home sweet home"-type cross stitch designs with a less-than-heartwarming message

Both for "ugly sweaters" and this, you have lovely "knit" designs. It occurred to me, while looking at this, and making sweater designs, that it's a lot like making pixel art, in a way.

I think you do this type of style really well. It can be difficult to decide what details to omit, and which to keep, but I think you consistently execute really well on that type of minimalism.

Well thanks! Yes I've always liked making pixel art and that's exacty how I approach this and holiday sweater designs. :^)

Thanks Simic! Although, the illuminati are the ones suppressing the votes for this design, I appreciate the support!

Re: Autumn Spirit

Seems like this is already on Redbubble. In case you didn't know, you're not allowed to pitch designs already for sale elsewhere.

Robot Roll Call!

This is very well done, especially in greyscale. This one's got my vote.

Sulinarian wrote:I created that piece when 3D software was pretty much still in its infancy. I've tried a few, but I'll bet it was Blender (since I've stuck with it to this day) with a little post work in Photoshop.

I love to see people working with Blender. It's an incredibly worthwhile, vastly underrated creative tool, especially with recent improvements. Congrats on a great design.

Re: Fruitcake

All I want for Christmas is THIS SHIRT!

My family has a 20+ year old fruitcake that we keep re-gifting every year. Though it's wrinkly and petrified now, it's the gift that keeps on giving...

LOL That's great!

Like I said, that design is an old one. The things that can be achieved with it now are off the hook. I will warn you...

I didn't find the interface user-friendly or intuitive; there was QUITE a learning curve.

I'll probably work some new Blender art into the derby at some point.

Whew that's the understatement of the century! I know a bunch of related software (video editing software and 3D animation software) and I found Blender to be very hard to get into. Like a lot of open source art software, it's come such a long way in the past few years, and is a really viable alternative now.

But yay for shout-outs for open source software!
