Don't let the TV fill your head with lies... Educate Yourself!

Sorry for the split on the two colors. I had this gut feeling, despite people saying I should stay with original colors. So if you like this one vote for it, otherwise, check out the one with a more vibrant color palette.

Both of these look great, J. The wood-toning is especially nice.

Thank you! I'm fond of yours as well this week (okay, so maybe just about EVERY week, but you get my point).

Heh, I'd like to say that was the hardest part, but we know the text was especially difficult this week. ::sweat:: I'm glad that I kinda went 'against the grain' and went with both color palettes to give a choice to the voters. I had a feeling about this. I'm glad I was right.

I admit I know nothing as far as design goes, but it seems to me that if the bottom line of text is giving the illusion of dimensionality, the top line should also. It just seems off to me.

This, otherwise, is one of the best I've seen from JadenKale.

I think you are hurting this entries chances by keeping the other one in the running. This version is far superior.

This one is WAY better. The colors are perfect. They have a really nice feel to them.

I'll address yours first, only since it's been such a long time since I've received praise of any sort on one of my pieces from you. If you look at much of the work of Shepard Fairey and Alexander Rodchenko, you'll see a very flat, but bold and angular look in a number of their pieces (and like all artists, there are some pieces that stray from the norm). I was attempting to go for that look, while showing a bit of dimension that would have likely been seen in the form of more thick, bold radiating lines. The fontwork, however, I wanted to try and maintain it's stark look as much as possible. To add the twist, I didn't go with a traditional red, white and black palette, since I felt that wisdom and education would be better conveyed in antiqued tones.

I hope that makes sense, snarky. I do appreciate it when you take the time to voice your feelings on my pieces.

& @bennyIV: Thanks, you three! I'm really glad I went ahead and made this color choice.

@kylemittskus & @bethlehemstarr: LOL I hadn't even thought of it from a Liberal Arts perspective, but now that you say that, I'm glad it gets the nod from you. And the general approval that educating one's self through reading is the best way to inform yourself on topics.

JustJiggles wrote:I think you are hurting this entries chances by keeping the other one in the running. This version is far superior.

I am thinking about it, Jiggles. However, it's not harming this one nearly at the level I think you may believe it is. Especially since this one is vastly surpassing the other version. I'll mull it over, however. Though, I have no reason to remove that one (for, I have nothing to hide) and I'm always curious what my final tally is on anything I submit, regardless of popularity.

Thank you all for the support thus far!

I don't know if I see any Fairey influence here. What AP photo of a TV did you steal to create this? I call shenanigans on Fairey influence if you say you created this yourself!

I'll shenanigans you...

Besides, I'm better than Fairey. I can draw a tv... I don't need to steal a photo. XP

I liked the first one, but I love the colors on this one. To me it is more subtle, but that sells the message even better. Thanks Jaden.

Re: Educate Yourself - Antique Colors

"It lies to your face" barely shows up, though I suppose that's for the best given that it strikes me as oddly worded and a bit obvious given the rest of the design. I think it's a solid idea, but the typography just isn't working. I would say you could take it two ways: making it MORE in your face and obvious so it feels more satirical, or making it more subtle. I do like the color choices more on this version, though.

Thank you lonelypond!

@tenieldjo: I actually think the awkward wording on the tv screen helps. It certainly caught your attention. Sometimes awkward wording helps people remember a piece.
