Re: Vulpes Victoriana

Large image:

This design represents the 11 uncontested members of the genus Vulpes - there is a twelfth member of Vulpes, the Arctic Fox, but I chose to omit it since it's also sometimes listed as a member of the genus Alopex.

They are, from left to right:
Cape fox (Vulpes chama), Pale fox (Vulpes pallida), Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), Tibetan Sand fox (Vulpes ferrilata), Ruppell's fox (Vulpes rueppelli), Blanford's fox (Vulpes cana), Kit fox (Vulpes macrotis), Bengal or Indian fox (Vulpes bengalensis), Corsac fox (Vulpes corsac), Swift fox (Vulpes velox), and the little baby is the standard Red fox (Vulpes vulpes).

I've dressed them in a variety of Victorian-styled clothing, in keeping with the theme of V (and because Victorian stuff is kinda cool). A lot of time and research went into this, and I hope it shows

Thank you for reading! Happy voting and happy new year.

Thanks, jas For the thumbnail, it was either going to be him, or the shy girlfox in the middle. Those two are my favorites, I think

Holy scaffolding. This must win. :O I'm a huge fox fan. My car license plate is "Vulpes" XD I'd love to see this print, and if it does, I'm getting 3.

Put me on a list for where to get it if it expires. ^_^

Once upon a time there were three little foxes
Who didn’t wear stockings, and they didn’t wear sockses,
But they all had handkerchiefs to blow their noses,
And they kept their handkerchiefs in cardboard boxes.

And that's exactly why I could never wear this shirt. Odd sexual fetishes ruining what is a clever and well done design. The internet creates as it does destroy - and my taste for anthropomorphic animals is now a strong disdain.

Believe me when I say I understand your point of view - but I think a lot of people are able to separate the concept of "anthropomorphic animal" from the concept of "furries".

I think it's a little unfair to mark this with sexual fetishism, too (even if it is potentially the primary draw for some people), since basically everything can be sexualized by modern society and psychology. I'm sure someone out there *really likes* Victorian attire, for example.

I'm speaking more for my own need to ramble than any attempt to change your mind, but I hope that if there is some part of you that still likes animals who walk on two legs and wear clothing, you can appreciate the fact that Looney Toons' Lola Bunny has a bouncing pair of chesticles, while my critters here do not.

No disrespect of course, I think it's a great design. I just find I couldn't wear a shirt that, to the average internet-era person, will automatically put into question whether or not I'm aroused by walking, talking animals.

But hey, that's just me. I do hope this prints.

Someone needs more self confidence, me thinks. I'm furry, and will admit to enjoying aspects of it in a sexual way. But I usually don't flaunt that part of it, nor do I care what others think. They can think whatever they want, and I'll just roll my eyes or call them hypocrites. :P Everyone is a pervert, and if they're not, then they're lying. Either to themselves, or to others.

I personally want this shirt not for the anthropomorphic side of it, but because I'm a huge fan of foxes in general. http://ozfoxes.com/fauxpas.htm for example. The rare anthropomorphic side to it is just a plus.

I hadn't thought of the furry angle before, but I like the design even more now. I'm not kinky like that, I just find furries utterly fascinating. I wish there was a way I could study them up close without running the risk of having a big-headed squirrel hit on me. Because what do you say to that?

The only one you really have to worry about is Corsi (grey mouse) :P She tends to 'attack' (Read: pounce, glomp, hug) the normal/shy people most frequently. No harm is meant by it, but there is no tact involved, and at times I definitely feel sorry for the victim. XD

I love this! I love foxes too! I never even thought of the furry aspect of it, but who would unless you are into that?

The shirt is awesome and unless you wear it to a convo I highly doubt random furries are going to walk up to you and hit on you... At least not any of the ones I have known.

I don't think anyone would relate this to a sexual fetish anymore then someone who was wearing a picture of a shoe on their shirt...

Not that I wouldn't still buy it when you are able to, I just am really looking forward to the thought of wearing it at my next few cons. :D

Ugh; I didn't get a chance to vote this week. Love this shirt; I don't know why, but there's something almost Gorey-esque to it (not so much in the drawing style, but in the drollness of the poses, I guess. Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it).

Here's hoping it prints. And I never would have thought of any kind of fetish upon seeing it. (I do wish the woot rules didn't disallow your putting the Latin names beneath the various foxes--that would be icing, IMO. :D).

Thank you, and thank you to any others who commented since the close of voting (thanks to a coding error I was aware that I wasn't going to print, but I figured I'd wait it out and hope for a miracle).

I'll be compiling a list of people who've said they want this both on this thread and in my PM box, so if you are one of those people, let me know I'm crossing my fingers for an HM, but we'll see.

Hmm... well, if I understand Woot's terms and conditions properly, looks like we'll have to wait at least 60 days before the shirt can be sold elsewhere, since Woot retains exclusive rights to the artwork until the agreement terminates, assuming they don't opt for an Editor's Choice (can always hope).

Which is fine. I can wait.

Which is fine. I can wait.

Yeah, I'm aware of the waiting period It could even potentially be longer than 60 days if I get an HM and the next double-take derby is far and away (which I think it is).
It kind of leaps into the vacuum and history with other designers suggests that people tend to forget/stop caring after too much time has passed, but for me the waiting is fine - it just means I'd have more time to select the best print venue for it.

Re: Vulpes Victoriana

What's up, folks? I've already sent PMs and emails to people who asked me to, but if you're just randomly swinging by and would like a copy of this design, head on over to Goodjoe and give it a vote!
