Re: Ushering in Spring

One more for this derby. I was working on a hummingbird painting for Attila this week and used a few of the hummingbird sketches to create new designs. I colored a couple of the sketches and put those on DBH. I drew this one tonight and thought it might make a nice line art design. I used several different line widths and it makes the shirt look like it uses green and yellow ink. But, it's just one color ink = yellow. Your votes are appreciated.

I mostly lurk, kls, but I'm mihalisaya's brother. I enjoy your work very much. This is, in my opinion, your most beautiful design yet. Keep drawing.

Hello Baldwinboy- I remember you from the wonderful comment you left on Mihalis' winning design. Thank you for your kind comment on mine as well! It's nice to see your sister's work in the derby again. She was MIA for awhile.

Thanks again!

Thanks Andy! I know it probably can't contend with the current leaders, but I thought I'd finish the sketch and then color it at some later date. So, it's won't be a wasted design in any way.

KLS this is beautiful. I am struggling with the shirt color, since it makes me look like a dead plant. I am thinking birthday presents here......

MJC! A Dead Plant...oh-no...that's not good. I actually really like the grass green shirt. They are beautiful in person. I thought the yellow ink would give a nice bright spring feel.

This is really awesome. Although there may or may not be too much going on right next to the little bird. I didn't even notice it until I was reading the other posts. Lost little birds or not though you GMV. Keep up the great work.

Please vote on my design!

I absolutely agree. The bird gets lost in the details. This is one of those 'doodling' sketches that keeps on growing. You know...the ones when you are on hold with your utilities company or doctor's office and you start drawing. I think when I go to 'color' this one, I'll remove some parts of the design and see what happens.

I put the other sketch on DBH. First I did a neutral one but then a couple people ask for one with more color.

pretty, but i think it's got too much detail. it took me several seconds to see what was actually going on.

also, a paler yellow might have been nice. like your stuff though

Sorry about that MIA thing. I'll take most of the credit, because I was distracting her when she came to visit and making her eat and shop all of the time.

Thank you again for your pretty art. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I really like the busy-ness of it. It is kinda like playing Where is Waldo to find the bird. The colors are fresh and perfect for spring!

Thanks Palmetto. It probably does have a little more than is necessary. If I consider adding color to it, I'll remove a few things to make it more clear what's going on. Thanks for the comments.

i really like this design but i think the versions you have on DBH does it much more justice. i believe that this is artwork deserves vibrant colors not just the yellow also the different parts of the design stand out more with color. but i like this picture more than the one on DBH i think if you colored this version it would look amazing

Thanks AT! I'll take that into account when I do this design with color.
