Re: It's Going Out Faster Than It's Coming In

A very well thought out entry, I like it better than the weekend warrior. Especially how the turtle represents slow and steady stream of income, and the rabbits are money just flying away.

I can relate. Though woot income seems to come in spurts, I think that wouldn't make a very pg 13 shirt.

Good, then buy one. I won't.

Personally, as a 25 year old guy, I feel as if I'd look stupid walking around in a white shirt with oragami bunnies on it ... regardless of whether the message "resonates with me".

They don't print shirts with photos of money on them. I believe that was the issue with shirts that were rejected. You aren't supposed to copy or reproduce money, so woot won't put those copies on a shirt. Drawings of money are fine. That's my understanding.

Personally I think it's a pretty unisex design. Origami, tortoises, and rabbits aren't really gender specific (well rabbits are if you call them bunnies I guess). . I don't look at it and say, wow that's a girly shirt. But if you feel that way that's fine.

Also it's on cream not white.

Yeah, given what has been and has not been rejected in the past, you can't print copies/scans/live traces of money, but you CAN draw your own money. This one's safe.

It's even clever enough to have avoided putting any text on the money. Thus it won't be rejected for that either. :-)

I tend to agree with most criticisms mentioned in the forum, but in this case I completely agree with tgentry. After attempting to look at this design from different perspectives, I still do not see how a 25 year old male would look stupid wearing this shirt (I'm 26). In fact, in most instances I would argue it is completely appropriate.

Another outstanding collaboration, but personally I'm still leaning toward the Weekend Warrior!

Only thing that strikes me as odd with this design, is that there are as many turtles as rabbits, and they spaced closer together than the rabbits are, visually implying that the two are the same. For it to represent 'faster out/slower in', visually, there should be more rabbits & closer together, with fewer turtles & farther apart.

Awesome stuff dudes. Any chance you'd care to expand a bit about your collaboration process? You've both been quite prolific in producing well-executed shirts with great ideas in the past, so I'm curious as to who contributed what. I don't think I was able to look at either of the two Chogentry shirts this week and say "James was responsible for this part, and Travis for that."

Actually there's one more rabbit than there are turtles. If you look at the smaller version on the shirt you can see the extra rabbit, which is the large rabbit in the lower left as well. Interesting point about spaceing them apart though. I think visually it might not have worked as well, but conceptually makes sense.

I simply wouldn't walk around in a cream shirt with oragami bunnies on it, plain and simple.

I wouldn't wear this to the bar, I wouldn't wear it to a concert, and I wouldn't even want to wear it on casual Friday at work. I'd feel stupid in all of those situations ... but that's just me.

I still congratulate tgentry for designing yet another shirt that made it's way to the fog. Hopefully it places so that people who like it can snag it.

Actually, I think woot has a problem, not your shirt design. Though I don't like the other one (just a robot's opinion). Woot really overuses the "not on theme" argument. If they mean to say "we don't want to print this one" why don't they just say that? This is certainly no more off-topic than many of the shirts still in contention, but is probably more off-topic than several that have been rejected too.
