Nice Rockwell reference. Love this concept! I did a spoof of this painting with another animal way back when, i'll have to dig it out and send it to you - very different twist though.

Hey Josephus. First saw this one in MJC's signature. It's cute. The only suggestion I'd have is to try to incorporate some of the tshirt color into the rocks in the background. Seems like a lot of solid color back there and maybe a few shadows made from the shirt color would break up the 'sheet of ink' feel of the design.

Didn't think Norman Rockwell at first until someone commented on it. Now I see it.

I'm glad you liked it. and yeah, that's a really good suggestion. Probably, had I started it more recently, I would have done something like that, but since I started it several months ago, my technique wasn't as, uh, 'thoughtful', as it is now. Looking at the baboon himself, he could use a bit more depth as well, and adding the shirt color to the rocks would make them less stark, and could give them more depth. Before I do something else with it I'll try to sharpen up those details. I still like it a lot anyway. :^)

It's kind of a coincidence that the winning photochop last week by toby8915 was a much better parody of the Rockwell painting.

edit: I want to thank another classy lady for putting my design in her signature. Thanks mjc613! you're super!

Wow! That photochop entry is great! I always forget about that contest. Boy...some of the entries are really well done and very clever! I don't know how folks do that!

patience. steady hand...funny ideas, and no worries about copyright!

doesn't pay as well, though, but a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.
