It does to me... the pointed parts of the line look like very tight angles with a miter limit of 40-50x. Even if that's not the case, however, other entries (even ones in the fog) have lines of varying thicknesses.

Well, it *IS* a good idea, AND a simple design, so it is not surprising that it was thought of by others as well.

I'll try to look to see if my Doc has a web presence I can swipe his logo from to post here for you to see, also.

That certainly is a bit similar, but not one continuous line as this derby and my design represents. Thanks for shring that link. Mine is all original, I didn't surf the web to "copy" existing artwork.

Thank you, Wooters, for your support and votes. This design is a simple one, but I thrive on simplicity, and maybe others do as well. I would wear this shirt - hope the voters feel the same way and that is why they are voting. Again, I appreciate all the votes!

Thank you, breckenedge. I don't see anything wrong with submitting a very sharp and simple shirt design for the Derby. I like to come up with design ideas that would wear well on a T-Shirt and that people might want to buy for themselves or for others. This would look great on the kiddos too
I realize, however, that there are some FANTASTIC artwork designs in this derby, so I can completely understand the frustration.

Re: Heartbeat

I'd be happy if this prints solely because it's a take on exactly what I wanted to see in the forums when I posted that someone should do a heart monitor inspired design.

That being said, I'm flipping my normal position on simplicity. In the past, I have defended shirts with stick figures and other simpler designs over complex entries because I think they look better on shirts and other reasons. However, specifically given THIS shirt and the rest of the, oh let's say, top 10, I'd say that there isn't anything in particular there that DOESN'T look good on a shirt, and I think the time and skill employed into a design at that point should be considered.

I mean, it's left up to the voters in the end. I suppose I just thought that with a derby like this, most people would stray away from simplicity and get REALLY creative.

Would definitely wear it; it IS perfect for the gym.

I do think I would have preferred it if the heart were a little further to the right. More left center of chest than far left. Still great as is though.

Sadly, too many people on this forum seem to think that T-Shirts should be artistically aesthetic pieces. They think the art on a T-Shirt should send a message, make people think, and impress yuppies across the world due to the deep meaning behind a design.

These people (Original content not provided.) to realize that it's a friggin' T-Shirt, and that the one criteria for any T-Shirt is how good it would look while being worn. You can show me the most ambitious, complex, drawing in the history of art on a shirt, but if I'm going to look like a fool while wearing it there's no chance I'd buy it.

You walk a dangerous line. While it is in the designers' best interests to create simple, cute, and kitschy designs for this particular arena, I don't think that such a direction is going to inspire ground-breaking artwork. And I honestly don't think that such shirts will attract a customer base that will support the direction that Shirt.Woot takes the other 4 days of the week. Yes, I am one to talk.(/sarcasm)

If you're looking for ground breaking artwork, Shirt.Woot is the wrong outlet to be a part of; as Adder has proven, this site will do nothing but frustrate you if you're coming on here looking for awe inspiring original art.

You don't go to McDonalds looking for a 5-Star, Zagat Approved, meal, you go there for a quick bite. The majority of people who come to Shirt.Woot come looking for cute, kitschy, T-Shirts, so that's what you get.

Instead of people constantly coming here and insulting the intelligence of people, those people should find a different outlet that appeals more to their specific tastes.

Are you kidding me? This was rejected because there's a Cafe Press shirt that looks like it? That's ridiculous, Cafe Press is a joke.

Woot just cost themselves $10, because there's nothing else remotely at the top of this Derby that I'd buy.

I could see rejecting shirts if they're exactly the same, but because this is "similar"?

Similar is so vague. The bird shirt in the Fog right now is "similar" to countless other bird shirts that have printed. The rose shirt is "similar" to countless other rose shirts you can find all over the mall.

Plus, like I said, it's CafePress; shirts on that site shouldn't be the basis of a rejection.

I believe all entries are subject to the 60 day hold once entered, whether rejected, removed, or whatever.

I don't see the uproar for this being rejected for similarity to a cafepress shirt, though. Cafepress is a purveyor of koi merch, eh? Are you implying that woot should have higher standards than cafepress? I was under the impression that woot was like mcdonalds, based on comments on the very page I'm replying from!

Thanks for answering my question. I removed the design from Cafe just in case - I certainly don't want to break any rules. And for the record, I didn't think I was implying anything about anybody's standards. I was merely asking about the legality of selling on other T-Shirt seller's sites once a person receives the royal Woot boot.

I've just been over to Cafe Press and this shirt is NOTHING like any of the shirts there. Did they mean the "Darfur" one? Or the "Bored me to death" one? None of them look like this one. Unless they're not going to allow certain things (like the heartbeat line) at all because someone else used it on a shirt somewhere else. Yikes! What might that lead to?

Yes, I do own my own business and am very well off financially, but just because someone has money doesn't mean they should overpay for things; especially like shirts made from CafePress.

But hey, nice attempt at a witty comment, you seem to have given Adder an erection.
