Re: Dancing in the Rain
That's amazing! The reflection is realistic in a way, but obviously still very stylized. A+
edit: I keep coming back to that reflection, and I like it more each time.

FIRSTLY: I totally forgot that I was going to put this on the forums first before submitting. Not sure how I forgot such a thing, but anyway. Since it's here already, I figure why not leave it up and ask for advice here. My MAIN concern is the size and placement. I don't have time tonight, but I'll post alternate versions sometime tomorrow.
All in all, I thought I'd try a little something different. I'm not entirely sure that I didn't break a rule somewheres here(none of my lines/halftones should be smaller than can be printed), but if I have I'm sure someone will be quick to help me out. ;) This is a continuation of sorts on another past entry of mine: Cheers to Winter
One of my favorite things to do when I was younger was go out in the rain and play. I called it dancing, though I'm sure it looked more like flailing around like a dummy.

I really like the size it is right now, I don't like getting a shirt expecting the design to be larger and it's tiny on my shirt. ![]()

Thanks so much! I remember copy/pasting/flipping when I first tried to do reflections in photoshop(in ancient times). My result was always pretty cheesy. This time though, I liked it. So thank you! Coming from you, the compliment means a lot. ![]()
Re: Dancing in the Rain
Very nice illustration. Kudos.
This design is great. I loved Cheers for Winter too. I wish it had printed.
Anyway, good luck!
Re: Dancing in the Rain
This is great! You know I love your style, and I think the reflection is a really nice touch too.
Re: Dancing in the Rain
This is most excellent! Though, I would have to say that personally, the design looks kinda strange to me on the shirt. The reflections being the same size as the things its reflecting kinda removes some of the depth I think this could have.
This is very cute! I like the style, LOVE the frog raincoat, the reflections are great and the bee is a nice 3rd element. The only thing that looks a teeny bit off is the bear - he/she is very cute, but a bit flatter than the rest of the design. But even with that bit of flatness, still adorable!

I agree on the depth. I probably should've played with perspective/size, but I decided to keep it simple (i.e. lazy, I suppose). I think I might fix that and submit elsewhere after this derby is over.
Thank you for that!

Re: Dancing in the Rain
Great! I really like the simplicity and 'adorableness' of the design. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a shirt someone above 10 (or a guy) will wear. I think it is perfect for all of the kids out there and I hope you can find somewhere to sell it so kids can wear it. Needless to say, it is really well done.
Re: Dancing in the Rain
One more thing: while I think the reflection is a cool effect (and really well done here) it seems to make the design on a shirt too busy/large. I think it complicates (?) the inherent simplicity of the design and would be better without it. Anyways, good job and GMV.
Re: Dancing in the Rain
I like that the bear looks flatter than the rest. Almost like it's an imaginary friend -- something not-quite-real.

Haha, you just gave me an idea! I should've made the bear and the bee invisible in the reflection...

clever. If that were the case then the reflection is all the more necessary!
Re: Dancing in the Rain
As I've said before, your cute is definitely my kind of cute. I love that bear character of yours. ![]()
Re: Dancing in the Rain
I love these characters! I definitely thought of the bear as a kind of imaginary friend in the 'winter' design, so it would be pretty awesome if the bear were invisible in the reflection - next time!
Re: Dancing in the Rain
Cute kid in a frog suit? Yeah, GMV.
Re: Dancing in the Rain
Man, this would be an awesome shirt for my kids.
Anyone notice that the bear kinda looks like pedo bear? And he's w/ a little girl even.

Don't get me wrong, I lvoe the shirt... it is just a little too close to pedo bear for me to buy it for mah lady.
