I was in a really weird mood last night. I started to draw anthropomorphic food, but this came out instead.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
great job, loop!
It strikes me as Edgar-ish, which is a good thing indeed
Re: Cookout in the Valley
It does have an Edgar look about it.

I'm so glad this came out instead. Nice.

Love the muted color scheme, and the mysterious look of the monster... I can only imagine the deep existential ruminating going on in there.

Probably something like "Man, I wish I could have some BBQ sauce. These things are terrible when they're dry."
Re: Cookout in the Valley
I like it a lot. For some reason it makes me think of "Happyland" that won over at Springleap a few weeks ago.

So this is the dude responsible for all those wild fires... shame on him.

Hahaha, I was thinking the of the same thing!
Re: Cookout in the Valley
This reminds me alot of the artwork of David Lanham. Nice design btw.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
SO FRIKIN COOL. That's all I can say.
+1
Re: Cookout in the Valley
You're on a roll with putting out great stuff... I agree with the others, this indeed struck me as something Edgar would sub. GMV for sure, and I'd love to see this one on Threadless if it doesn't make it here. ![]()
Re: Cookout in the Valley
This has a very Edgar feel to it and while that is absolutely a compliment, I don't think I like that. Not that you intentionally tried to tread on Edgar's style, but you nevertheless did. Just not sure how I feel about that.

love it! get more votes!!!
Re: Cookout in the Valley
This definitely reminds me of Edgar's work.
I am not sure I necessarily like the shirt, or would buy it... but living in California I would definitely wear it because I could see it making people angry.

Edit: Also, my reasoning for not necessarily liking it is more so because it's on cream and I get really washed out in cream.
This is my favorite design of yours ever!!! I love it!!!
Re: Cookout in the Valley
Another one of my favs. The color scheme is so calm and inviting, then you see what is really going on. I love it!

I sincerely apologize about that. I have so much respect for Edgar, and I promise I wasn't trying to make anyone uncomfortable. This piece was honestly just a reflection of my melancholy mood that night. I think the monster and the color scheme is what looks so much like Edgar's work. But I guarantee you that the concept behind it was born in my head alone. I was actually sitting in a posture just like this monster in my office chair when I imagined this. Plus, I was also inspired by teextile's design that day which was this:

You don't need to apologize, dude. Any artist that is honest and halfway decent will say that they are influenced by artists they like. Besides, you didn't imitate Edgar anyway.
I think that you have a cool design! I was admiring it earlier this week, and I want to be able to design more like this.

Appreciated. Thanks for standing up and discussing. Looking at the shirt a few times, I really like it. It feels a lot like Edgar to me though, although I agree with you that the colors certainly add to that feel. No disrespect whatsoever. An interesting submission -- certainly one of the more creative and original ones in the derby style-wise -- that will not print. Yay derbies!!!
Re: Cookout in the Valley
Awesome.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
It does have an Edgar feel about it, but I definitely see you in there too. I think the style is perfect for this concept. ![]()

Really no need to apologize in my opinion. No real artist can claim to not be inspired and draw sources from things around them. Plus there's always the want to try a style you've seen and liked.
Again awesome shirt.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
I love this design so much!
hoho... awesome.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
I'm very surprised this design doesn't have more votes. I definitely think it will get an honorable mention. :-)
Re: Cookout in the Valley
I really like this one. I thought it'd stay up there in fog when it shot up there the first day.
Re: Cookout in the Valley
This design is so terribly unappreciated. Get more votes will ya!?
I loved this design. The scene lures meaning in rather than forcing it into existence. Do more of this kind of work (even if it is Edgar-ish)!
