Re: I'm a Pansy!!

Yes, I know this design is silly. : ) It makes me laugh though.

It's another game by binkdrop! Hooray!! I had so much fun with the last one I decided to do another - this time with a plant-related theme!

The first person to private message me the correct genus of all five flowers (not common names) in the picture below will get this crocheted amigurumi bunny, made by me. (I'll mail it to you so if you win I'll need a mailing address.) You only have to give me the genus name, not the entire scientific name and not common names. If you happen to know the common names it'll be pretty easy for you to look up the genus. Guesses in this thread will not be counted - you must PM me.

Here is the prize:

And here is the picture (which links to a larger picture) of the plants to be named:

Congratulations NameyMcName for winning this little game on Aug 29, 2009 at 10:39 PM. I can't believe you guessed it so quickly! I seriously thought it was going to take longer.

Anyways, thanks to all who participated and as I said in replies to PMs, next week's question is going to be hella hard!!! >:D Seriously though, you wooters are pretty sharp.

That pansy is sassy! I like the splattering of the background. This has more graffiti look then your other entry. And boy you whipped up that lil bunny fast!

Hah I forgot to add them. :p

1. Commonly known as Indian Paintbrush. I see these all along the roadside here in Texas. Genus: Castilleja.
2. Pansy -- what else! :p My favorite pansies are the purple and gold ones, so that's what showed up in my design. Genus: Viola.
3. Common name: bluebonnet -- also somewhat popular along the roadside here in Texas (It is our state flower for a reason!). Genus: Lupinus.
4. Wisteria - I think these plants are gorgeous. They grow as a vine and sometimes grow up far into trees, and end up somewhat suffocating them fighting for light, but they do look so beautiful when they bloom. Genus: Wisteria.
5. Titan Arum - Wikipedia says, "a flowering plant with the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world." It is supposed to smell horrendous, like rotting corpses, when it blooms. What a unique flower, huh? Genus: Amorphophallus, which is ancient greek for "'without form, misshapen' + phallos, 'penis', and titan, 'giant'" so sayeth wikipedia.

Pansy is quite sassy!! :p Mr. Bunny had been in the works, so he was about half done. Probably took me like 3 or so hours total to make him while I was watching Star Trek. : ) Luckily though, tonight I made the figurine for next week's derby so I'll have that ready to go if I submit a design.

So unfortunate that I was looking at this at work, because I had to try sooo hard to stifle my laughter, haha. I love his confidence!! Also, the splatter-y background is pretty cool too. Great work

I love these colors together. The splatters make me think that he got his own colors from playing paintball with the other flowers.

I'm glad that Mr. Pansy brought some happiness to your work day! And while some people think being a pansy isn't a great thing, I don't think he would want to be anything else!

Pansies were my father's favorite outdoor flower, but I don't remember them ever having quite this much attitude when I was planting them. Hmmm...maybe I'll put some in next year.

First thing I thought of when I saw this was Alice in Wonderland:

I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing! I've only ever seen Alice in Wonderland once I think, but I might have to go watch it again now because I don't remember much about it at all. : )
