The ship looks great.

Great drawing. The title should be written as "Columbus's Nightmare" though. It's only s' for plurals (except for Jesus').

Are you sure, I'm pretty sure an English teacher once told me you can do s' for singular units, like a last name. Then again, I could be totally mistaken.

you add an apostrophe to the end of a word that ends with s to make it possessive. for instance James is made possessive by writing James'. Columbus's would be incorrect.

I'm afraid your advice is incorrect according to no less an authority than The Elements of Style.

Citation

That being said, I've read alternate authorities that agree with you. However, when in doubt, I always stick with Strunk and White--personal preference

I'd like it more if there were people freaking out on board.

A capital letter is also supposed to be used at the beginning of a sentence.

Also the Chicago Manual of Style.

The in-house style guide I used to work with gave some company-specific exceptions to Chicago's rule. In fact, Columbus's was their cited breaking point for "if the result sounds any worse than this, skip the final s."

Hmm, no Edit button.

Anyway, I may not be right about Columbus per Chicago--I can't get to the other page they point to, as I'm not a subscriber. I can definitely vouch for the in-house style guide, though. And Vik's right--you'll probably get different answers from different sources.

This is a great piece, the only place you loose me is on the waterfall. It's a bit too sparse or something. You gotta figure your talking about trillions of gallons a second rushing into the abyss, it just doesn't have enough of the power that that type of water exudes. If this does't make it this time around I'd suggest tweaking that and resubing here or threadless. Good job

Thanks for the feedback! After drawing the boat I was exhausted, so I simplified the water. More volume would look good. We'll see what happens.

SICK! Such a great idea for this derby! Out of the box idea (that probably happened) and looks great on the shirt. GMV and $10 if it prints. Well done!

Its a similar concept... But its executed completely different. And since these types of shirts designs aren't all over the internet, this probably won't be rejected.

But this isn't the first offense of the "similar concepts" cop out, and I doubt it will be the last...very weak

You're right. You can use s' for any name that ends in "s" as long as the object of the sentence is singular.

No, that isn't right. People use s' that way but frequent use doesn't equal correctness. I teach 4th grade English and it's not the academic standards to label a singular possessive with s'. My son is an English Lit graduate and his professor agrees.

Your accusations are serious.

I'll gladly discuss them when you come out from behind the new account you created yesterday.

Ha ha. No need for violence. Just this simple photoshop tutorial. And if you have a tablet, you can do some really cool stuff with the brush.

I'm always scared the brush is gonna drop some partial opacity stuff that would constitute additional colors.

You are right; it does. Solution: half-tone screen.

ok i voted for this, but in the event that it doesn't win, i have a different suggestion to what has been said already. add the other two ships and submit it to threadless. i would really like to have this as is, or with all three ships. good luck!

Happy Beer.

I think that this shirt could only be improved by adding an "Asia This Way." sign to the side of the water fall...

jk. I think that the shirt is perfect. I want one!
