You mean where the handle goes behind the head? It fades into the shadows there...at least that was what I was going for.

Re: Constant Companion

Very moody - nice work!

I've got a Poe design in the works, but nothing like this one

Good luck and gmv.

Re: Constant Companion

It's a pretty cool design.

Unfortunately I can't vote for it because I still don't like Edgar Allan-stupid-face Poe.

Edit: Fixed

Munchy Attack If you can find the name of this artist & real song title I'll buy you a daily woot shirt (your choice what day)

Dystopia Dark Lager, Where the Wild Parties at?, B.A. Bearacus, and many more wanted in XXL(PLEASE!!!)
Edgar Allen Poe shall remained headlock'd until Nevermore is reckoned.

EXCELLENT FROG!!! Keep up the sketchy style! Your last couple of entries have rocked my sock off. Seriously, look... my socks are like 5 feet away from me now.

Am I the only one getting a Grenth vibe from this. Looks exactly like Grenth from Guild Wars, down to the horns and the fact Grenth was the dark god of ice. Just feels like Grenth to me

I really like this, and would appreciate the chance to buy it so I can make up for my Nevermore purchase when I was a newb.

Never played Guild Wars, but I'm getting a WoW vibe from this. There's an armor set for the shaman that looks similar to this. At least, I think it's the shaman set...

But anyhow, excellent design.

That's what I got as well, though I don't recall Grenth having antlers.

A quality Quixote last week & a Poe this one? Man, I'm really digging this literary bender you've been on lately.

I love the illustration, as usual, but I'm not in love with the color palette yet. I'll keep looking at it...

Re: Constant Companion

face definitely looks like grenth, but i think overall its different enough not to cause any problems. not feeling the palette either, but the illustration itself is very nicely done. did you consider shades of purple/blue instead of green when working on it? i know it wouldn't be as dramatic and high contrast, but i think it would have lent better to the serene feel of the piece.

I love that everyone sees their own experience in the design. In conceptualizing the incarnation of death for this piece I was actually most inspired by the episode of Jim Henson's The Storyteller about Fearnot. At the beginning some dudes put on a furry cloak and have a deer skull on their head and pretend to be a troll or something. As a kid I remember it being really creepy.

Yeah, I'm getting an EverQuest vibe from it actually haha. A lot of the epic weapons would have effects like leaves or skulls or some sort of thing floating around a blade like the skulls in this falling from the scythe.

Very cool design!

At first, I thought this was a play on the fact that Nevermore has been on the charts so long and "won't die".

Re: Constant Companion

I know the character in the movie looks a lot different from this antlered one, but for some reason this keeps reminding me of Donnie Darko.

Very cool picture, though it's a little to dark for my taste.
