This is an optical illusion I made years ago. I added on the carrot to sort of lighten it up a bit. Before I added the carrot, I found about 70% of people I showed it to saw the face, 30% saw the bunny.

Please post which you see first. I'm curious to see the impact of the carrot.

I saw the face, and then got confused about the carrot until I read your comment! Now I see the rabbit eating the carrot.

Since I read your comment first, I immediately saw the bunny and had to look for the carrot. So it kinda voids the experiment. I'd lose the carrot and go with the illusion as-is. Besides, you know the 'no bunnies' rules! Ditching the carrot will hopefully avoid the ban. Cause this is cool!

I saw the bunny first because of the carrot. Then the face.

Ha! I forgot about the ban. Well, it's a chance I have to take.

I'm kind of curious about what others think. I like it with the carrot, but I've had this drawing around for (literally) a decade, and it may just be that the carrot freshens it up for me.

Huh, you know, in the full-sized comp I see a carrot, but the thumbnail, being hader to see - looks like the face has eerie orange eyes. Cool. I still think the carrot should go though.

I saw the bunny first. I think that may be because I'd just been saying how I miss the references to Harvey due to the "No Bunnies" rule.

LOL dude...great job, but you should not have admitted to the bunny (that only some see)...bunnies are against the rules this week.

I saw the bunny first and then the face as I was clicking on the entry. I didn't notice the carrot until I read your comment.

I looked at the thumbnail and saw a bunny. "What the heck does that have to do with ... ?" Clicked, read the title, read the text on the comp. "Oh, it's a face too. Okay, so it is on topic."

No idea how that would've played out without the carrot, but as is, it was definitely bunny at first sight.

I should add, though, that while looking at the bunny I was also thinking "What the heck happened to his back?"

Not a bad idea. Actually, if I'd just used a dark olive green it'd probably have had the same effect. Too late now. Oh well.

I actually don't really mind which people see first, as long as they (eventually) see both. I don't think there's much point in down-toning the rabbit to hide from woot moderators--they're smart enough to see it regardless.

I hope there's enough gray area in this submission that it doesn't get shot down for "the bunny rule." After all, I think the intent of the rule is to sidestep the normal cartoonish bunnies that normally thrive here. I guess we'll see.

I saw a skull with a carrot through the eye sockets. Couldn't see the bunny till your comment and then it took a while to find it. Very clever.

Darn--it was rising pretty fast too. I don't know if it'd have made it into the fog, but it might have come close.

Oh well. I guess I'll stuff the graphic back in a box for another decade. Or maybe try it on Threadless?

Thanks to everybody who posted a positive comment about this design. It's not often I get a design shot down (in here or my real job) and still feel really good about it.
