Re: Treas.Isl/Finn/Mr. Hyde Mashed Potato Mashup v.2

Took mash-up literally and made a mashed-potato sculpture incorporating Treasure Island (skull w/ eye patch), Huck Finn (boy with hat and stick - toothpick - lounging), and Mr. Hyde (psychotic looking man in a hat with peas for eyes).

Inspired by the literal idea of a "mash-up" and my young nieces & nephew that are visiting and spend more time playing with their food than eating it!

Hope you all like it!

This is version 2.0 - with suggestions by OdysseyRoc and gre9del taken into account.

Now that's what I call a mashup -- very cool design!

I like this version much better. I'm glad you took the time to remix it.

Thanks! Glad ya like it! I'm excited to see if I can top my old record of 101 votes...lol. Kinda sad when the winning designs get over 700 votes, but what the heck.

Just remember a popular shirt is not always the most attractive shirt.

Personally, I love your creativity with this entry.

Hah, love the mash potato skull, and Huck Finn's toothpick. Very clever idea sir.

Ubb - Thanks! Glad you like the creative twist on it. My rendering skills aren't always up for the challenge on every subject, so I have to be creative to work out something I actually can draw!

keelhaulkate - Glad ya like it! It'll probably never print, but your appreciation is good enough for me!

Drakxxx - Thank you sir! Any compliments coming from you are always appreciated!

Ya'll keep up the good work too!

Haha...glad ya like it SnowQueenVT, I'm diggin' your new design too...your style is so recognizable, and it works really well for ya! You're one of the few artists on here whose work I can spot without ever having to see the artist name!

Really great upgrade from version one. The gravy and the peas have a great gloss to them. The shading on the potatoes is great - it gives them a great lumpy feel.

Thanks!

When designing it I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to capture the texture of mashed potatoes, especially since I do everything by hand on paper and the only computer work I do is coloring (though to be fair, I did the highlights for the peas in the computer since they were alterations to the original design). Luckily there was a pantone color that worked well for shadows on the mashed potatoes, so all I had to do was color my black hand-inking with it.
