Re: Perfectionist

Perfectionist

The old standby for "what's your biggest weakness?" Wear it to show your potential employer you know what "perfectionist" in the workplace really means. Or just wear it because you're like me and you sometimes can't see the forest for the trees and leave half your stuff unfinished.

Ahh this is awesome, and not just the idea but all the detail work. GMV!

Congratulations on completing it so quickly. -__^

Ironically I was going to make the lettering much more elaborate, but I just ran short on time. This shirt couldn't be more appropriate for me! Fortunately what it loses in detail I think it makes up for in readability it might have otherwise lacked.

Re: Perfectionist

This is great! It actually does speak to so many artists who either can never be satisfied with their work no matter how much others say they like it, or who can never seem to be able to finish something they start thanks to the time monster. I love how this shows the creative process. Great design sir, very well thought out. And nice celtic knot pattern too.

For some reason, I figured that what happened. I would like to see this if you had a week to work on it. Great as always Travis. GMV

Re: Perfectionist

This is awesome on about 10 levels...maybe more..I've lost count. I can personally relate to the positive and negative sides of being a 'noodler'. <--term for people who can't stop futzing with stuff until it's juuuust right And even then, after all my noodling, Ive exhausted my energy and 99% of the time still failed at what I was going for.

I always expect the best from TGentry!

Re: Perfectionist

Its a really cute design in relation to something as nice and dark as death by trying to hard...which is my greatest weakness :P

Re: Perfectionist

Clever. Though, I have to say, 'perfectionism' is actually a quality that employers in few fields are interested in and it can cause one to lose their job.

You may want a bit of perfectionism in your life. You incorrectly used the plural possessive pronoun "their." You also misused single quotation marks. And you have written a run-on sentence. Three strikes and you're hired! Wait a second...

"If drinking is bitter, change yourself to wine." -Rainer Maria Rilke

"Champagne is a very kind and friendly thing on a rainy night." -Isak Dinesen

"There are many ways to the recognition of truth; Burgundy is one of them." -Isak Dinesen

Yeah I actually agree with you (check my post at the top of this thread). I think just a shirt with "Perfectionist" on it would not be a good shirt to wear to an interview. However wearing this shirt (with the guy who didn't finish his work) shows the employer you understand that perfectionism in the workplace isn't always a welcome thing.

There are many days when I feel like this poor guy. Great design, Travis. I wish I could be just 1/3 as clever as you are when you come up with these concepts.

Hey look, it's ME! I work hard on visual art but if I have a deadline, I can let it go in it's unperfected state. Oh, but it's the music that I'm unyielding with to the point that I start to piss myself off for not being done.

"What's that? CrescentDebris composes music? Well I haven't heard any." Exactly. Check back around 2086. I should have something ready for you.

+1

I never say this but, I must have this shirt.

Hahahaha! Love it! This is me. And I've actually used that as a weakness in job interviews, but (try to) put the strength spin on it. I really suck at interviews.

and this is one of those "I hate my job" days.

Good luck!

Heh. That is what everyone says during their interview. If you want to stand out, you need to come up with something else. Forget the saying a flaw that is really a strength meme. Just say something that is work related but has nothing to do with your job.

Sorry, I think this one takes too long to understand. It's clever and all, but you have to really think about it -- and people don't like to do that with shirts. Glance, get it, laugh, that's all.

Maybe it's the perfectionists that get it without thinking...

I thought it was instantly understandable, and awesome. Brilliant design.

The color on this screen isn't that great, is it on navy or asphalt?
