Another collaboration with the amazing SeedUvPain. I had an idea about chupacabras and tacos de chivo (because I'm taco-obsessed), shot Seed an email and he emailed me back with a cool twist on the theme. After a few emails back and forth discussing the finer points of taqueria art and how to visually show the "goat tacos" sign without text, he knocked out a sketch that really cracked me up. I hope you like it!

I dislike the halftone shading on the wheels, inner shack, and shack door, but that just a personal preference. However, your characters are sooOOO appealing that I have to vote for this!!!

I actually think the halftoning works out really well - the overall composition might seem too flat without it. GMV!

Chupacabra has been my favorite cryptid since my time living in Texas, so I was glad to see him get some love this derby. This is easily my favorite of the Chupa shirts, and it has both my vote and my disappointment that it is so far removed from the fog on Wednesday morning.

Here's hoping for an HM.

Seed did a great job on the sign. The main thing I tried to get across to him is that in most taqueria art whatever animal is being served is represented as being all too happy to be your meal. One particular favorite of mine in South Central LA depicts a pig dressed as a chef, carrying a cauldren. In the cauldren is another pig who looks pretty stoked to become a meal.

This is a quick doodle I did of a goat in a pot dancing with a tortilla to show the kind of madness you see on taqueria murals.
