Hey, I am new to making woot shirts and I am wondering how you did your background, i'm having trouble doing something similar.

The best way to do this is to use a good photoshop brush. Usually a speckle type brush, set to scatter, and then play with the sliders a bit. You can also search for free textures that you can convert, but that takes a little more tooling. Just do a search for Photoshop brushes, that should help you ^^.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I need this shirt to LIIIIIIIIVE!!! It couldn't have been rejected because of copyright or whatever; they've already had a Dr Who shirt. Was it rejected because woot doesn't think they'd be able to print it on a shirt and still maintain the details?

I'm really disappointed- I really loved this shirt.I wonder if "I don't think we can do it" means they don't have the ability with their machines. The sad part is none of the other shirts are very interesting. I did expect it though when I saw the back to the future shirt (which is basically the same thing) also get rejected.

A blue Police Public Call Box isn't copyrighted at all. (At least to the best of my knowledge.) The T.A.R.D.I.S. is, but not a call box. I don't think they *can* copyright it, because the real call boxes are public....

But I'm not a lawyer and I so would have bought this.

What are you talking about? That could be any robot, it's not necessarily a Dalek!

I'm more than a little annoyed that this shirt is held to a stricter standard than other shirts in the derby. It isn't my favorite, but let's have some consistency, please.

I'm actually a little shocked that this sort of thing wouldn't fall automatically into the realm of free use. We live in a strange age when it comes to the legal aspect of art and design. The internet and the amount of free information we have access to has impacted this discussion from both directions. It can really be overwhelming and confusing at times, and what's worse is the knowledge that there are tons of creative professionals pulling images from Google without a care in the world, while the rest of us worry endlessly about it.

Nope the shape/image of the TARDIS is a registered TM to the BBC.I think it was made official in 2002 if I am not mistaken, but the patten was applied for in er..1996? Right around the time of the FOX film. Let me go check...
