A collaboration between DianaSprinkle and Bassanimation. Bass drew the image and I inked and crosshatched it. I love crosshatching. This is all hand inked and scanned in.

Oh my goodness. I have been following the derbies for the last year, but this is the first time I have ever felt the urge to comment.

As a former mouse and guinea pig owner(currently a proud rat owner!), I think this shirt is absolutely amazing. The mice and guinea pigs look spot on and the detailing is fantastic. If this prints I will buy it in a heartbeat. Good luck!

Hi all,

this is my first collab with my good friend, Diana! When I saw the theme, I instantly thought of her, as she has -mad skils- in this area of art. I had this drawing in my sketchbook and she decided to give it a go. It looks SO fantastic, I could not be more thrilled with her execution! EEEE!!!

I hope everyone enjoys the War Pigs . I really love to draw little rodents and fantasy things, so this was like pure art chocolate for me. Thanks for doing this with me, D!

Bass, were you ever a part of the Florida Rat List forum? You just seem so familiar to me. Regardless, I've been a big fan of your work in the derbies.

Cool as, I love stuff like this. I had mice fighting on birds in an old entry, not as well done as this tho. The costumes are dope.

Leilia, I am totally a part of the Florida group! I haven't been there in a little while, but I know Bella really well. I work with her 'team' here in Texas and have some russian blues from her lines :D. Thanks so much for joining the fray here! I need to post this guy on the Florida list in case the rodenty peeps would like it ^^.

D, you should really post the original inks you made. I could not believe my eyeballs... No way I could do that stuff. It is amazing!

My one tiny quibble is that I wish you'd gotten the number of toes on the guinea pigs right. G. pigs only have three toes on the back and four on the front. Other than that, I think it's great!

Thanks for spotting that. I would like to make a full color version of this image at some point, and then I can revisit their feet .

i use to stage fights like this when i was younger...my rat against my sisters hamster, on our two guinea pigs...her hamster lost.

Thanks for all the comments and votes everyone! I'm so happy to see the war pigs still in the fog.

I just wanted to comment so I could post a close up for the other guinea pig. I used a crosshatching technique on this guy that makes it sort of look like the texture of leaves or fur but it's really just 5 to 6 short parallel lines placed over each other at slight angles. I don't see this style of crosshatching much outside of Japanese manga.

My favorite part is the different colors of the guinea pigs. My little sister has a guinea pig and I know she'd love this shirt.

Wow. I'm on the same page, I have always had hamsters growing up and currently I have a mouse. I love him. My boyfriend loves woot, and got me into checking the derbies, I've been doing this for a long while now. My second favorite woot shirt even came from one of the derbies I followed......anyway, none of you care about my history....Basically, I LOVE THIS DESIGN

that is all, I love it, and would love a print of it, even if the shirt doesn't win, but it should, because it's fantastic

I've heard people mention Redwall, but I did not know what it was until this derby. My boyfriend told me about and I looked it up. I'll have to pick up some of the material and read it as it looks right up my alley.

As a fantasy lover and a rodent lover, my weird brain naturally puts them together. I try to make my drawings look and feel different from similar ideas that are out there, but it is hard. I had no idea there was so much cool stuff out there about rodenties.

Sorry I didn't comment sooner, been out of town and sick this week. Great collab you two (But Diana your gonna have to fight me for Bass if you plan on doing collabs with her on a regular basis ;) ). Great clean lines and the texture is amazing. The only thing I maybe could have done without is the outlines on the figures but that's a little point. Needless to say though it got my vote as soon as it went up. Here's to an overdue print for you Bass.

Hi all, I wanted to give one more thank you to everyone who commented and voted here for the War Pigs. I really owe Diana the biggest thanks of all for taking my sketchbook drawing and turning it into this amazing work of crosshatch fury! Thanks so much, dude!

Hope everyone enjoys Thanksgiving today. Alas, due to some food poisoning last night, my boyfriend and I are stuck in our house, with no turkey dinner ;_;. He'll have to eat broth and I'll probably throw in some microwave burritos, hahahah. Word of advice: if you're going to the deli for a tuna melt, don't go after 7, cause you'll probably get the old crud that has cooties in it. >:{
