saved!
I like turtlez and they start with the letter T. This one is turned-over for the double t! I hope everyone likes it and I spent a long time on it. There's 3 colors used on green.

Um...I like this one better...
I almost die of laughter every time I see this. The story behind it is too funny.

I'm sorry, but this has way too much character, charm, and whimsy. Please try harder at being soulless.
Re: turned-over turtle
On its own, this is pretty strong. I'd buy one.
goldenthorn wrote:I'm sorry, but this has way too much character, charm, and whimsy. Please try harder at being soulless.
i agree and i really dont like turtles with teeth gums yes
Re: turned-over turtle
Looking at this more closely, there seems to be a speck of green on the turtle's face. I'm not sure I could wear this. :P
goldenthorn wrote:I'm sorry, but this has way too much character, charm, and whimsy. Please try harder at being soulless.
One more gargleblaster you're an artsy-fartsy who hates all funny shirts! Woot already printed an artsy shirt for you this year and it didn't sell out, so u should shut ur artsy mouth!
In all seriousness, I could actually see myself wearing this and getting a lot of laughs from my friends (none of whom are Wooters, so they wouldn't know the reference). It may be snarky, but hell, in its own terms it's funnier than a lot of the shirts woot prints.
Re: turned-over turtle
If you copped to your 2 year old art-savant child (niece? neighbour? some kid you grabbed at the supermarket?) having drawn this, I guarantee you'd get, like, 300 votes by the morning. GUARANTEE, I said.
Also? I genuinely like it. It radiates adorable RAGE. It's like Angry Day's differently-abled cousin.
i could really go for this if it was not for that little speck in its right eye i feel i need to dust it off lol

I'm just gonna copy and paste what I wrote on the other turtle thread:
Wow. I'm not exactly sure how to get in on this thread, so I'll just type here at the bottom. I am new to this site, new to the whole tshirt business. I've submitted 2 designs that have gone absolutely nowhere. You guys are ruthless, and I love it. It's good to be in a community where people stand up and shout. I know now to bring my a-game. Thanks!
And..umm...how do I get my tshirt image to show up on my comments?
cherylfrancis wrote:

The easiest way is to go to your design's page and click add a comment. Then, copy everything from the "open bracket symbol url" to the "slash url close bracket symbol." THEN paste that into your signature under your account settings. If you don't want the title to appear above the thumbnail image, you can delete that from the code. Good luck!

The image won't show up until you make a purchase form any of the woot sites. Its just how they work the sig.

First off, let me just say that I laughed pretty hard when I saw this.
Secondly, you inspired me to do a mockery as well
But, I just deleted the link... its a little too mean in my opinion.

wait, I was told that nobody else on this site was capable of doing that style and that's why everybody is so jealous. Hmmm
Re: turned-over turtle
This masterwork speaks to the everpresent ennui of bourgeois society. I see a dadaist rejection of the duality of our society's affect-based dialectic.
Re: turned-over turtle
I wish there was an "I'd want 1,000,000,000" button.
Re: turned-over turtle
This gets my vote because I would actually buy and wear this shirt. Not all topsy-turvy turtles are drawn the same. Maybe Woot would fast track an Editor's Choice.
odysseyroc wrote:wait, I was told that nobody else on this site was capable of doing that style and that's why everybody is so jealous. Hmmm
I guess I didn't delete my link soon enough, haha. I got quoted!
Yeah, I was told the same thing! I had to bite back a little for that one since it seemed like the comment was directed at me and two other artist in the thread at the time.
Re: turned-over turtle
Ahahahaha! Glad I read the comments in the other one. Love the facial expression. Cracks me up every time. XD
Re: turned-over turtle
L....O....L XD!!!!!!!!
I cant tell you how much better this looks!
+1 and a buy if it makes it!
Re: turned-over turtle
I need a new kelly green shirt, and this will be it. Backyard Brawl is ready to be retired, and a topsy-turvy turtle is exactly what I need.
Re: turned-over turtle
I truly appreciate the time you spent on this design. ;)
Although I do not like turtles so much, the emotional frustration pouring out of this little guy resonates to deep within my soul.
I too wish I had a + 1,000,000 button.
Fog on!!
Re: turned-over turtle
Wow. See what happens when you miss a few days - the kids get out of hand. Oy! I'm SO glad Woot and everyone seems to be taking this in good spirit. And, honestly, I may go back and read the other thread to catch up, but I pretty much got the whole gist just from the thumbnail.
You people are wicked, wicked I tell ya. ;D
Chump, you ought to post a linky to your pic in a separate community thread, just for us inquiring minds.

I like that the parody versions end up being infinitely more charming than the original.
Re: turned-over turtle
Context or no, I would definitely wear this. That is the best frustrated turtle face ever.
Although this turtle was posted as a dig at you-know-who, I really liked this design. The childlike drawing and the emotion in it really appeals to me. I wish it could win. Sigh.
odysseyroc wrote:I like that the parody versions end up being infinitely more charming than the original.
This is both ironic and sad. This shirt is seriously funny, both in and out of context. And it seriously is better than the [one] that's in the fog. +1 fo' sho'!

Here's the thing about it, some people learn to draw by doing nothing but drawing, and they end up developing a personal style. Some people learn to draw by copying other people's drawings and that's all they can really do. Meg, Chump and Midge can draw in any style and you'd still see their personal sensibilities come through, that's why it's so great. It's also why TGentry's piece in the Kawaii derby was great.
Re: turned-over turtle
I think I'd say it's as least as fun and clever as anything in the Life Is Good line, or the better Rage Face meme comics. Take that as you will. At the very, very least, this shows a much better sense of color than the fogging sub. I would definitely wear this with a secret smile, knowing it was more than met the eye.
Re: turned-over turtle
Totally added my vote and honestly, I would love to wear this! You captured the turtle's frustration perfectly. Cute, funny, hidden message... my kind of shirt for sure.
Re: turned-over turtle
I don't think it's shocking that people like this and aren't just voting because its funny, meaning they are voting because they would actually buy and wear it. This piece is over flowing with emotion, and on top of that, it's regarding subject matter that we can all understand. It's art that strikes both the mind and heart. I would wear it too.

Re: turned-over turtle
I'm sorry, but this simply isn't shiny enough.
Re: turned-over turtle
So, I was definitely one of the people who came to the other artist's defense, but I would SO take this shirt over the other one. This parody is hilarious and has just enough character that I would TOTALLY wear it. Plus I love that the shirt is green. Thanks for making me laugh tonight!

Here is what I do:
To explain (hopefully):
1. The part where it says "website goes here"(see above): Go to your shirt's page– you know, the one where you have a picture of your design on a t-shirt. Copy the web address of that and past it– delete "website goes here" just in case that wasn't clear ;D P.S. This part is set up so that people can actually click on your box and it will take them to your derby entry.
2. The part where it says "image goes here" (see above): On the same page that you copied your web address on, there is your large t-shirt preview, and then to the right a little box showing your thumbnail. "Control" click on this thumbnail and a list of options pop up. Choose– "copy image location." Then, past this where it says "image goes here" and delete "image goes here."
If you notice up at the top I have the dimensions set at 90x90. You can make your image bigger or smaller by upping or lowering that number.
I hope that was helpful!

Oops, it wasn't showing the formula. If you notice, at the very beginning between the bracket and the "U" of URL there is a space. I added this space so the formula would show up. When you use this formual, take out the space. Sorry about that ![]()
Re: turned-over turtle
Parody aside, I really would wear this. It is so angry!

Except that one does not put advertising for one's derby entries within one's comments. Advertising derby entries belongs in your signature, NOT in your comment. Images will not show up in your signature as you have not yet bought anything from any woot site. That's too bad, but please be aware that advertising in comments is considered spam and will be treated as such after fair warning. If you look around at the comments of all other artists on this site, they advertise within their signatures as well. You have a quote within your signature, so you know how to edit it, which is good. As you can't have images until you are a woot-purchaser, why not try some text links?
Thanks.

I don't think you spent much time on this at all. It looks like a 3-year-old drew it.

This is an awesome design. It's the best turtle design in the derby. Even if you took out the text, it would still make sense and still be hilarious.

Oops! Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to post my shirt. I just saw other people doing it and thought that's how they did it. Yeah, that makes sense. I wondered why when I tried to put my picture in my signature it wouldn't appear– hence the quote. Though, that's my fav. quote, so that'd probably stay anyway
. Thanks again!

Turtle’s don’t have teeth... Also I have a hard time believing that you spent a lot of time on this. It looks like you made this (sketch) in your spare time.

If this was made to go against Ramyb's then my bad... Nice work. but if not then i mean what is above =]
I'm speechless . . . sort of. I can barely draw but I think my Tadpole in a Top Hat looks pretty good. It's my first time. Yes, I am a virgin shirt.wooter. Took me like a whole week to make that damn tadpole. Now, I see this. Dangit! All those wasted hours. I am so jealous, I'm turning kelly green. But this somehow has a deeper meaning. The turtle is a metaphor for the futility of life and the plight of the common man. It screams "help me" while at the same time giving your the finger.
Re: turned-over turtle
To the fog with you! +1 for all sorts of reason, not the least of which is that this turtle tee has soul!
Re: turned-over turtle
I was thinking about this and I realized that an extremely sloppy, MSPaint shirt would actually be kind of fun to own as long as the colors were still clean. Without the inside joke I probably wouldn't have supported this, obviously, but I realized the other day that there would be something a little fun about owning something so "sloppy," especially when it is otherwise clean (no pencil marks, no awkward white space). The "model" shows it off. I'd definitely enjoy wearing it and having people comment "What in the world?"
This shirt is now officially doing better in the rankings than the shirt it was created to parody.
Oh, and it definitely has my vote.
specsmachine wrote:This shirt is now officially doing better in the rankings than the shirt it was created to parody.

Despite the parody and the fun factor associated with this entry, there´s also a "sad" part to this, that should make us think. This entry has much more votes than most of midgerock´s "serious" entries, which for someone that´s obviuosly talented like he is, turns out to be really unfair...

That's the worst part. I did a parody of one of their designs in the christmas '09 and it still is on of my highest voted shirts. At first it's funny, then it's just kind of sad.
was this done with ms paint?

Thanks everyone for a fun run! This was and always was a joke. It was never intended to print when it was created. I never imagined that so many people would enjoy it. I loved reading everyone's comments. I literally was laughing my arse off! Thanks for the good time and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I did.
And on a final note, how about that M Night Shyamalan twist with the design this was based on?
Didn't see that coming! Love y'all!

finally, a shirt I'd have to stay up till 1 AM to buy in fear of it being sold out before I wake up.
