I wasn't thinking of it as a race though; I just need a reason for a critter to be outside of his house during the dead of night. Plus, the mouse is all sleepy so he/she is easy pickings Glad you like it.

that squirrel isnt thinking, i would have sawed off any large branch big enough for an owl to perch on that was also conviently located above my front door. ;)

I am glad you guys like the lighting. that candle really shouldn't be emitting that much light, but I'll sacrifice realism for beauty any day. Also, it doesn't have to be realistic to look and feel right... trompe l'oeil

@FB5- That would have been a great title for this piece! The current title was a last minute change, so sadly I didn't put as much thought into it as I should have.

I'm lucky enough to get to volunteer at a raptor center, so I get to frolic with owls every week. You captured the expression perfectly, the owl is giving the same expression to the mouse as I get when I'm trying to clean cages. Kudos

This is funny chumpmagic and great execution too.

I love the way you framed it at the bottom with the grass blades hatching into darkness.

I love the topic and images... I just think the same effect could have been achieved with a smaller, more proportionate owl.

yes it has been a little competitive hasnt it. I got pushed out of the fog by a floating tree
