True story: I was a carnie for approximately 20 minutes one 4th of July in Florida. I was asked to man the carousel for a guy so he could step away for a smoke. He stayed away for a long time. Maybe it only felt like 20 minutes (I wasn't used to wielding that much power).

I am glad that you gave tribute to the carnival workers, last summer I asked the teacup lady about her job, they travel 9 months of the year...the same people run these rides for a lifetime...I remember some of these folks from when I was a a kid...imagine 9 months at the fair!Yikes.
You captured the expression in the last panel...great insight and I liked your carnie story, you were brave!
