A design got reject last week for a pop culture title. I assume the rule applies beyond the art... the entire entry.

If it's the one I think you're referring to, as far as I know it was never rejected. According to Shirt. What is was removed. You'd have to ask the artist(s) what the story is there.

CMDixon's entry with the cat and dog was called "tiger blood" when he entered it. Somebody on staff (I think llander) said something about it being pop culture. As far as I know, the artist took it down and re-subbed with a new title, I never saw it get rejected.

The design with the kids and the cart was the one that I did with Wences: D-I-Y-sneyland.

O my bad then. From CMD's first comment, it sound like the original got rejected. I didn't know he did that just because of the staff members comment. Again, my bad.

Apart from being a rather Jatravartid pop culture reference the design also isn't very well executed.

Thats harsh. I spent a whole 30 min making this. Plus, im not too huge of a fan of the cartoony style, but im slowly learning that my target audience thinks otherwise. Ive only found about this site a week ago.

If you aren't a fan of it then why slap out a Lion King design when the derby rules specifically prohibit pop culture references this week? I don't get it. What's the point?

Settle down. If he only found the site a week ago, he's still learning the ropes. Pop culture being one of those ropes.

Let's welcome our new artists instead of berating them, please.

Welcome new artist! Check out this thread.. Especially look at TGentry's post. He's on the shirt staff and has some useful posts in his signature.

There are plenty of people around to answer your questions. New Derbies are announced on Thursday and you'll find a discussion thread for it. That's a great place to ask your question, test out your ideas, get comments on early drafts, etc.

Again, welcome!

Thanks Thunder.

and fventz, i made the design before ever thinking about the title. It was just a silhouette of a lion with a crown. It after looking at my picture i thought of lion king (actually i thought of 'king lion' first).
