Re: Signs of the Times
This geek-tastic design contains all state route shields, with the number indicating the order of each state's entry into the Union.

Re: Signs of the Times
Here is a link to a higher detail copy to show the signs better.

Love it

This one isn't getting enough love. Fantastic design.

I would say that, as well
Creative idea!
Re: Signs of the Times
Great! But a little bland. Would look nicer with a little color.

Thanks for the explanation... I live in one of the smaller New England states and was trying to remember where my route number was, if it ran north-south or east-west... cool!

I thought about trying to put some half-tones together to color the map, but I'd already eaten all six of my colors w/ the road signs...
Re: Signs of the Times
As a roadway designer, I deal with signs all the time, and this is a fun little idea. I would suggest making the signs bigger, in some cases quite a bit bigger, so that they're more visible. Right now, you'd have to be up very very close to someone's chest to see them and that could get... awkward. You wouldn't need to worry about overlapping state lines, everyone in the USA is so familiar with the states that it won't lose anything. Gray is a simple background color, nice and generic, but what about trying the design on kelly green? It's a pretty classic Freeway-sign color and might go well
