I think it would be more visually appealing if the glyphs filled up the empty space in the middle. I know you were going for the abrupt end, but it just looks empty to me. Plus repeating the same head with minor variations doesn't have the same impact as using an assortment of different glyphs. Here's a great resource http://research.famsi.org/mdp/mdp_index.php

Cool resource, ty. The open space kind of represents a tomb, or part of a larger structure and I considered many ways to represent the glyphs. I drew the 'face',which to me seems like a stylized skull, rather than use an actual glyph . I thought woot might frown on using actual glyphs, idk. If the 'skull' is obvious then it emphasizes the morbidity of the Legend of the Calendar.

There are also font generators/sets for the glyphs, but I'm not sure they are real.

The repetition, while lazy, simplified the 'motivation' for me, and draws the emphasis to the mushroom cloud. I'm just glad it hasn't been rejected.
