Though Lovecraft's work's often evoke alien horrors to terrible to imagine, I remember thinking of this poem after hearing my friends describe living in England. Their house was near an ancient ruined castle where many battles were fought, and they found it strange and kind of funny that parks and playgrounds have been built right over top of all these years of medieval history. Who know's what lies just under our feet, not really dead, but dreaming...
