Re: One Small Step For A Man (v2)

I have received suggestions that I have applied the "pop culture" rule incorrectly, in trying to compare Shakespeare quotes (fiction) with historical events.

As such, I decided to submit my original version of this (with "One Small Step for a Man").

If you like both designs, please vote for both. Hopefully one of them will print, and if it does, I will wear it to all of the Purdue FB games this fall, in memory of a true American hero.

Your text looks like it crosses over itself. Apologies if this is not the case.

I just went back and checked it, and there's no cross-overs. It looks like the anti-aliasing in the shirt comp image blurred out some of negative space in the letters.

here is a link to a high res version, where it is more visible. I don't think I've been sizing my shirt comps to 602x602 since they changed the format, which doesn't help.

Do want.

Turned out great-hoping this one gets pushed up in the fog quickly. I'd wear either version, though.

That seems like an entirely unnecessary comment. I can see if you have criticisms about the design itself (which you fail to make), but to draw assumptions about the designer's intent isn't needed.

It's definitely uncalled for, since a similar comment was also made by the same person on version 1 of the design...

I love this! The other one is great too, but I prefer this one. That's so cool that he (and Gus Grissom) went to your school.

amazing, amazing work!
I keep looking at all these designs and trying to figure out how in the world the artists did it, but yours takes the cake. I cannot imagine how long it took you to finish this. I may just have to dust off my Woot wallet if it prints

The cool thing about Purdue is that there have been 23 grads go on to be astronauts (the most of any non-military school - see here). One of my high school classmates, a friend of mine, went on to be a flight instructor for the Space Shuttle (she never got to go into space though), and she was a pilot in one of the planes that shuttled the last shuttle to the Smithsonian this past year.

If you're an astronaut nut, believe it or not, Indiana is one of the places to be!

Re: One Small Step For A Man (v2)

1) lyonscc, this design (both versions) are brilliant. I strongly suspect one will print this weekend and it will be well-deserved.
2) I also suspect that numchucks9000 is someone's "evil twin" account (i.e., duplicate account to double-purchase randoms); whatever.
3) Gentle reminder: whether or not this prints, please remember to remove the hi-res version on Friday so that it can't be used to pirate your design.

Great shirt that is not only a marvel of technique, but captures a moment of deep emotion and tribute; it's a rare shirt that manages both, and you've just totally hit it out of the park with this one.

Your are seriously lacking some intelligence if you think the artist would be opposed to the money for it getting printed. It may not be the sole reason for submitting but to think it doesn't pop into every single artist that submits a design is ignorant.

I'm stupid excited that this is in the fog today. :D I hope it does well... If I make it home to any football games (Purdue alumna here, go Boilers) I'll definitely be wearing this shirt. Although.. not if you're going to be wearing it too, lyonscc...

I really think this is a wonderful tribute. This version is my favorite. So happy to see it in the fog. ^_^ It's a must print.

Putting aside that I'm sure it was amazing to pilot the plane shuttling a shuttle...it really registered as appropriate for that wish derby...where she didn't quite get the wish right when she wished to fly the shuttle!
