Well, seeing as how Cool Breeze has hopped back into the top 10 after 20 weeks, I'd say disco would see that as a risk worth taking.

I don't think the general public would understand the t-shirt bit. At first, even I thought the box said "toys".

I remember the days of bringing my box of tees to the playground, dressing everyone up in them and then quitting.

Great shirt. Please don't pull it down if you start to do bad! When stuff like that happens, it throws us into chaos. Did Michelangelo tear down the Mona Lisa canvas once he saw Dog's Playing Poker?!??! No!

discodancing, if it becomes necessary, you can always change the box of tees to a ball. As in, "I'm taking my ball and going home." Of course, there will be dozens of other balls strewn around the playground and held by the other children. But it's that one ball that means the world to everyone - or should, according to the one stomping off. That's how immature children think. Right?

disco, if they do reject it, please resubmit a variation on this. It's too funny! Maybe they won't reject it, though, considering the theme they so carefully chose this week.

Um, I understand making things you think the derby goers will find funny. I DO NOT understand making a shirt that, even if not intended to be, can be viewed as a direct attack on another designer.

Well, aside from the coincidence...

I think there comes a point when most designers or competitors in general get frustrated with the general balderdash that goes on. You just get to a point where you "don't want to play anymore" - which is fine, because sometimes the game really vacuums. In this case, it's targeting shirt designers. It could just as easily have targeted an innovative musician or writer.

People are just getting up in arms about it though because of the drama in last week's thread.

Well.. if you like to attach to Cho.. o_O
And no.. he doesn't always win.. what about the travel derby. He submitted two, none won. How about the one I loved with the guys in the rowboat and the whale? Why am I not wearing it? It didn't win. Just be happy that Cool Breeze is netting you a nice down payment on a car and get over yourself.

To be fair, you didn't say anything specifically about Cho being the main influence on this design. Still in poor taste judging by the drama of last week.

seriously I haven't had a chance to be on shirt.woot for months. You can look for my postings - they're not around. I have no idea what this drama from last week is.

However, from months ago I know there's constantly drama and constantly people complaining about what won and threatening not to be involved in derbys anymore. So yeah, that gave me the idea - but it's not an uncommon theme from the various design contests I've ever seen. I thought it would be funny to poke fun at those people, but apparently this hasn't gone over well.

Some of us who witnessed the profane tantrum in real-time the other day see this thread as very mild, not to mention humorous. Now that the point was made, though, I hope discodancing reworks the piece and resubmits. As I suggested earlier, it would work great with a ball rather than a t-shirt. It would then be a general "I quit!" design. The core idea is very sound.

I'm not too happy with Woot either, because the theme reads as a bit of a low blow.

Do you have evidence that it was commentary?

You know, for someone getting unfairly axed in the Graffiti derby, I'd think you would have a little more sympathy.

Instead of "it looked like a commentary", let's switch it with "it looked too close to the original photos".

Hey, what's your issue? I'm saying it looked like it was a commentary, whether it was intentional or not. We can lay at least some of that at woot's feet with the choice of theme for the week. Nothing to do with sympathy or lack thereof here though. I said it was axed because it looked like it stemmed from forum drama, but did I say I was glad? Let's be reasonable. And my rejection, fair or unfair, has nothing to do with this.

Accordingly means it was the right thing to do. There was no evidence, only coincidence. It's all in how it "looked". I was also upset with your entry for getting rejected for how it "looked". At the time, you voiced that you thought your rejection was unfair, so I thought I'd make an analogy.

Bottom line? Entries shouldn't be rejected for unsubstantiated reasons. I'm pretty sure that this wouldn't have been axed had the Cho club not gone on a vigilante spree. If, during the holiday derby, it was okay to crucify Santa due to freedom of speech, then this should be okay, even if it WAS a slant against derby quitters (though we have no evidence of that anyway).

Accordingly from their point of view. It didn't matter to me whether or not it got rejected. The only reason I could say I'm glad is because now there's a chance of a puffaluff version (although disco hasn't said anything about doing one I'm hoping anyway). In the end it doesn't matter what I think, what you think, what the "Cho club," as you call it, thinks because Joel gets the final say. :-/

It wouldn't matter in the end... except for the fact that there are tattle buttons, and very vehement people online today! They tend to bring other things to light...

Ha, I just got back to a computer to see the madness that overflowed. Ah well, woot rejects. I can't do much about that, so these poor playgrounders will slide into darkness.

As far as a puffaluff version - there is a shirt for sale at the puffaluffs.com site similar to the cheese idea you've described. I'm kind of afraid to submit another puffaluff design here. I think people were pretty sick of just the two winning - I think I'd get a lot of wubble comments for that.

Thanks to people who voted for this. I don't think I'll have time to make another for this week - maybe next week!

The shirt was a commentary on people getting frustrated and threatening to leave. When I read the description of this week's topic, I thought it fit. That's it. blame it on the puffs....

I never thought it was meant with mean intent. No one with your whimsically goofy sense of humor would be that snide. I didn't vote for it 'cause I couldn't see myself wearing it, but I'm sad that woot booted it for a stupid and uninformed reason.

And the puffs have been growing on me, I wouldn't mind seeing another puff shirt or at least antoher segment of the puffaluff story. ;)
