The Fabric Of Democracy
Many Americans spurn the facile political labels that define our discourse. They believe that the best course lies down the middle of the road, and that good ideas can come from either side of the political spectrum, or no side at all. In their view, governance is about more than scoring points off the other team, and getting results is more important than choosing sides.
Aren’t they special?
Maybe you’re not one of these elevated souls. Maybe you believe that without labels, you’d never know whether you were buying chicken soup or clam chowder. Maybe you think that “bipartisan” is a code word for “compromise”, and “compromise” is a code word for “surrender”. Maybe, to you, politics is warfare by other means, and you don’t believe in giving aid and comfort to the enemy. If this is you, time to vote with your torso.
Or maybe you just want to tweak a partisan friend by slapping a silkscreened, all-cotton label on them as a gag gift. We’ll take your money either way. We’re democratic like that. (Please note the lowercase “d”.)
This shirt was designed by: John Stuart Mill and Edmund Burke.
Wear this shirt: if you’ve grown tired of slapping bumper stickers across your chest.
Don’t wear this shirt: to convince anybody of anything. Nothing elevates the political discourse like a one-word slogan t-shirt. And we do mean nothing.
This shirt tells the world: “I’m from the one country on Earth where red means right-wing and blue means left.”
We call this color: Bleeding-Heart Blue and Wingnut Red.

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
