Finally, a Doctor Who for America!

3rd place in Derby #257: On the Beach, with 528 votes!

VARIETY reports that after YEARS of negotiation, false starts, and "development hell," BBC has finally agreed to an American version of the hit British sci-fi series, Doctor Who. The new sci-fi drama will run on FOX Sunday nights.

Gregory J. Bonann, of Baywatch, Baywatch Hawaiian Reunion, Thunder in Paradise, and Baywatch Nights fame, has signed on to write 36 episodes. As for who will be donning the famous scarf, Matthew McConaughey revealed on Twitter that he is "super siked [sic] to be Dr. Who. WHOS [sic] ON 1ST???!"

The show's creators are confident that fans will enjoy a "modernized" take on the character, but promise there will be plenty of nods to the show's rather esteemed heritage as well.

"So the original doctor guy uses a phone booth, but we were like 'You can't even FIND a f*&$ing phone booth in LA,' explained Bonann, adding "Oops. Spoiler alert. It's set in Southern California. Anyway the point is he uses a magical cell phone now. And it talks. It's called a C.E.L.L. phone. We haven't figured out what the acronym means yet, though."

Casting for the Doctor's Companion is rumored to be a dead heat between Kristen Stewart and Megan Fox, though neither was willing to comment on the role or express any emotion whatsoever. Bonann promises fans will recognize some of the Doctor's most infamous villains, as well: "Oh yeah, we're totally bringing Daleks back. Except instead of robots they're super hot chicks that are robot ninjas, and their little toilet plunger laser gun things come out of their nip- Well, you'll just have to watch the show."

Principal photography begins in September.

Wear this shirt: To the beach! It'll block UV rays. Maybe. We think so, anyway.

Don't wear this shirt: Over your rash guard. Now you're just being silly.

This shirt tells the world: "You say 'Anglophile' like it's an incredibly annoying thing."

We call this color: Sonic Cremedriver
