The ancients believed that if you were born on a certain date, you were protected by a giant sky crab that gave you its powers. This belief was set aside once a twelfth of the population was drowned in butter and found to taste nothing like giant sky crab. Which, by the way, is still a delicacy in some parts of Greece.

After that, the Zodiac became something much more metaphorical, enjoyed mostly by swingers and the free jazz movement. It was not until the late Seventies and the rise of Dr. Strange comics (#53, “The Creeping Oozing Murder From Maine”) that the Zodiac regained the menace it had once carried years before.

So please, try not to get butter on it.
