I don’t know; his imagination is pretty wild.
Honey, did you see Andy out there? He’s been picking at that worm for almost 20 minutes now. I don’t KNOW what he’s doing, honey, that’s why I’m asking if you saw. Well it’s just rude to play with food like that, for starters. I’ve been watching him: he’ll fly up to a tree limb, swoop down and pounce on the worm, drag it off into the sky, and then do it all over again.
Actually I have a number of concerns. For starters, we’re bluebirds, Michael. We’re not raptors with reinforced bone structure in our talons. He could sprain an ankle! And that’s to say nothing of what that poor worm must be going through. Look, I know it’s the natural order of things but he doesn’t have to…to… revel in it, like that. It’s just… weird.
I think he’s acting out. Yes, yes it makes perfect sense; Barbara’s boy got eaten by that cat almost a week ago. I’ll bet this is some sort of, I don’t know, coping mechanism or something. Oh, my beautiful blue baby boy, what’s going through your mind right now?
Michael, you have to talk to him. Because you’re his father, that’s why. I don’t care if it’s just a phase or not, our son is honing his murder skills out there in the grass and I don’t like it! Well maybe he can pretend the sunflower seeds at the feeder are horrible, dangerous…I don’t know, crickets or something!
Oh, don’t belittle me, Michael! A cricket could be plenty dangerous!
