Hometowns are like unnerving time capsules 

Dylan awoke in a strange bed with an odd familiarity. Where was he -- and when had he been here before? His waking mind slowly pieced together that Dylan was in his childhood room. 

Everything was just as it had been when he was a child including the shelf full of athletic trophies and a "No Fear" poster on the closet door. Was he dreaming? Dylan looked down and saw that he was fully grown -- not the child who had once occupied this room. Had he traveled back in time? 

The living room too appeared straight from the '90s, with a boxy "big-screen" TV in the corner and a land-line phone in the corner. Dylan pinched himself, becoming unnerved by the verisimilitude of the dream and wishing to return to normal. Yet here he stayed, in the 90s. 

His phone buzzed in his pocket, the first anachronism of this strange dream. The text read "Crazy night, Dy-man! Glad ur back in town!" And a wave of recollection washed over him. He was home for the long weekend. This wasn't a dream, it was all too real.
