See, here’s the thing. When Da Vinci drew his Vitruvian Man… it was actually an adaptation. That’s right. It was based on the work of Vitruvius, a Roman who developed a system of proportions for the ideal… well, everything. Da Vinci looked at Vitruvius’ notes and then sat down and drew his own human based on those notes. And guess what? The adaptation is still considered a masterpiece even today. And do you know why?
BECAUSE DA VINCI DIDN’T DOUBLE ALL THE MEASUREMENTS USING CGI AND THEN THROW IN SOME LOBSTER CLAWS AFTER HIS AGENT SUGGESTED IT DURING A POKER GAME IS WHY
It’s not so hard, is it? If you want to write Batman, start with his dead parents! If you want to write Cannonball Run, remember it’s got to be some sort of celebrity-fueled race! If you want to write a football game, don’t set it on a basketball court and don’t give the players curling brooms in the third act! And if you’re one of the hottest Hollywood directors and you want to write a movie about young alien martial artists… why not just pitch your own script about young alien martial artists and save yourself some licensing fees?
This shirt isn’t just a clever observation about a funny name. It’s a bold statement on the nature of the collaborative adaptation itself. Bravo, RamyB. Bravo.
Wear this shirt: when you go back to your home planet. Because you’re an alien. Didn’t you know you were an alien? It really adds a new dimension to your character, don’t you think?
Don’t wear this shirt: if it upsets you that nothing is exploding in the background.
This shirt tells the world: “Those whom the Gods would destroy, they first acquire the film rights to.”
