According to occasionally-creditable websites, inspiration for the Millennium Falcon’s distinctive design came from a partly-consumed hamburger with an olive sticking out of it. That sounds like a joke. It’s not. Other spacecraft inspired by foodstuffs include:

-X-Wings: A bundt cake with a brie filling.

-EVA Pod: An albino grapefruit.

-The Serenity: A fresh spring roll smothered in chorizo gravy.

-The Borg Cube: An unfriendly crouton.

-Gallaxhar’s Ship: Several cashews mating with a pear.

-The Eagle 5: A Philly Cheesesteak molded in the shape of a Winnebago.

-The Heart of Gold: Pork bao.

-Protoss Carrier: Partially-digested pistachios.
