The best part of the future is that you can change it.

Well, that was pretty awful, wasn’t it? Two big zeros for three hundred and sixty five days. Even the good parts had that greasy film clinging to it, making everyone feel dirty. There’s still a lot of gunk to clean away, but you know what? There’s some light coming through.

Because we can’t rely on some outside power to come and take care of our problems. Those outside powers pretty much CAUSED all the problems. They’re not here, what do they care? They wake up to clean water and rising bank accounts, so why would they make the effort? Cleaning up their mess is going to be our job, plain and simple. We are the pelicans. We carry the brooms. And we’re going to have to make the difference.

2011 might take a little work at first, but if we start now, we’ll have this place looking fantastic when the Mayans come back.
