The cat's movement is hypnotic.

In the fifth month of their research, the small team of scientists made a peculiar discovery: that cats do not actually stretch, and that anything perceived as such is merely an optical illusion. Further tests showed that cats barely move at all. All of their distinctive actions - playing, jumping, rubbing on their owner's legs, sitting on a lap and purring - were nothing more than positioning and prospective. 

Upon the first utterance of their findings, the team lost all funding and each scientist was reassigned to a new project in remote locations where they would neither see nor hear from their former colleagues. 

"I don't get it," one scientist said as he loaded his personal materials into a box to be shipped to his new post, a cold endurance testing facility in Deadhorse, Alaska. "We've done some great work."

His supervisor sighed. "I guess there are some truths that people don't want to know," he said. The rest of the packing was completed in silence.
