See, what it is, is it’s a metaphor for the political process. The artist is making a reference to the fall elections, and the theme of “change” that both major-party candidates have been repeating. And the figure there, that’s the spirit of hopefulness or something, which rises every year over the pumpkin patch, promising presents for all the children who’ve shown themselves to be sufficiently faithful to the idea that positive change is possible, except that spirit never fully materializes, which is why you can see its ribs there. I can tell all this because I took a lot of college-level art classes, which gave me the skills necessary to understand the meaning of artworks, and—more importantly—taught me the importance of being able to spout off with some half-plausible nonsense about them even when you don’t.
This shirt was designed by: dsladek, whose name we have no idea how to pronounce. We were like “does it have a J sound in it?” And dsladek said “neau! Go ghoti!”
Wear this shirt: during “the season of change,” which we’re thinking is autumn.
Don’t wear this shirt: past “the season of change your shirt; you stink.”
This shirt tells the world: “Plus ça change, plus c’est la meme clothes.”
We call this color: All The Leaves Are Brown
