3rd place in Derby #648: Joke's on You
Hellow, I'm David Attenborough and this is Planet Earth. Today we are in the flat prairie grasslands of Northern Kansas to observe a noble species in what has become their natural habitat. The chicken, or Gallus gallus domesticus, is a domesticated fowl that moves about on two legs. With a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes the chicken... Oh look, here's a fine feathered hen straying away from the flock. Chickens are social creatures and often-- oh my, she appears to be headed towards the road. The chicken's natural predators are, of course, the fox, the coyote, the hawk, and the modern automobile. She certainly is a brave gal to be heading out into automobile territory without the cover of night or the advantage of a traveling group. I wonder what on earth would have prompted this behavior... Could it perhaps be something as simple as the desire to reach the other side? We may never know, because there upon the horizon appears one of the chicken's most deadly enemies- an early 2000s Ford Taurus.
