I figured it was either a tree that produces enormous apples.....or that Newton was a very petite man.

Why isn't this one getting to the fog? The first cho entry that I'm in to since the Alice with the hookah, and it's just hanging out 5 or 6 rows underneath the fog. C'mon. Pancake.

I want to know why this isn't doing better. I love this one, and it's on green, and I have no other green shirts. I think this is better than the waves one, yet the waves one still made it to the top faster. Always my luck.

I'm so glad this is making its way to the fog. It's the first cho that I'd buy for myself. Also, everyone else that attends or has attended St. John's College would want one (at least secretly). Good job, cho!

bleh... can't stand this shirt, partly because i can't stand the idea that newton "discovered" gravity when an apple hit him on the head... and partly because no one will notice the apple unless they squint.

That was the last time we had a green shirt with a tree on it. And if you look at derby shirt we hardly ever get this color green for shirts. there was one a couple weeks ago for the text derby and before that it was Tgent.

Before this was on the fog, the only negative comment had to do with where the apple actually fell. Once it was in the fog, then most of the comments are negative. Let's speculate on why that is.

OK. Most shirts don't get a lot of negative comments when they aren't in the fog, except the egregious ones. Once they are in the fog, a lot more attention is paid to them, by everyone who looks. More complex designs often get more criticism, because there are details, and details mean different people find different things to dislike. I like this shirt a lot, myself. I voted for it, myself, and watched it switch into the fog. So, I suppose you could blame me for the criticisms. I just want one of those huge apples, myself. One apple=one pie. sweet!

I like pie. ;^)

First, no one seems to be "Cho-bashing". The complaints are shirt-related, not Cho-related.
Second, I am grateful for the other complainers. It means that there is actual free thought out there. Too bad the free-thinkers will never outnumber the sheeple.
Third, my personal complaint with the shirt is this: it's not accurate; it didn't really happen like the old childhood story.
Fourth, my extra complaint is that the scale is screwed. Not so much as to be comical, just enough to make me question whether it was done accidentally.

Love ya', Cho.
But this shirt? No.

As far as historical accuracy goes, the apple falling on his head is still a good tale, and it helps people remember who Newton was. I think artistic license allows one to be free to continue to depict the story.

I will have to say Isaac looks somewhat like Ben Franklin sitting there, and it is not my favorite shirt. I still say The World's Fastest Animals rules.

Um, yeah, that's the shirt I mean. The one that's still being sold. Do we need another green on green tree shirt when the first one is still available? Nope. Watch it Grow is very creative. This one....... Newton looks like an elf next to those apples. Or a lawn gnome. llo

You're forgetting the dailies. Grass green shirts look like they show up about twice a month.

If people like the green on green trees, they should buy Watch it Grow and keep it from being reckoned.

With only a few shirt colours available, there are bound to be duplicates. Green is one of the rarer colours. Just because there's another shirt that's this colour available doesn't mean this one shouldn't win. That's a ridiculous reason not to like the shirt. If it's just the design you don't like, that's fine, but it makes no sense to base your opinion on OTHER shirts available. Judge this shirt for its own merit (or lack thereof, depending on your view). =P

The fact that the apples are so huge is part of the joke, I suspect.

And people may simply prefer this tree to the other one.

It isn't about the shirt color. It's about the lawn green shirt with a slightly darker green tree on it. Been there. It was done better and with far more creativity, imo. Still available, too, so yes, it makes sense to consider all the options before getting something this similar printed. Especially when this art is inferior to Watch It Grow.

That's judging it on its own merit.

My opinion. Don't agree with it? Fine. That doesn't make it any more ridiculous than your own.

Hmm i respect your view and dont think its rediculous. But, I prefer this tree to the other one because the styles are very different, oh and that other one was upside down right? PLUS, the nerd factor of this shirt is 9.80665 m/s², (approx. 32.174 ft/s2) times more than that other tree shirt!

Well that's fine by me. If you read over your previous comments, it really does sound like you're arguing against this shirt simply because of the shirt colour.

I don't think the art here is inferior - the style is simply different. Furthermore, the subject matter is different - the only (unfortunate?) common element is the tree. But yes, this is a matter of opinion. I don't think your opinion is ridiculous - I only thought it was ridiculous to judge it because of shirt colour, which is what it seemed like you were doing before.

Honestly, I love the fact that Cho is a great designer (it makes everyone else have to work that much harder), but he should probably just be a commissioned artist for Woot. It seems like he's been winning almost every week. And yes, I'm totally jealous because he is freakin awesome. It's just, if you're winning every week then you're not letting new talent even have a chance at getting their designs made. Money aside, I would love to see artists like sokowa have their designs printed, but their designs are passed up almost always by Cho. Again, the art is awesome and I'm not bashing cho at all, but give him one piece a week on regular shirt.woot. People will buy it regardless if it's a derby winner or not. and he'd make $52K a year regularly.

Dr. Quiggly, I think you are on to something. What if woot labelled Thurs. as Cho shirt day? Or better yet Featured Artist shirt day - to give a chance to WOW artists from the previous derbies like Jimiyo, Edgar, KidGrenouille, just to name a few, as well. That person would get advance notice of the next week's theme, and their shirt would introduce it - BUT it would be a teaser. The theme would still be announced Thurs at noon, but there would be a clue 12 hours prior because the Featured Artist's shirt would be that theme too.

Hmm what if the quality of work slips once Prof. Cho gets his tenure because he doesnt have to answer to ANYONE anymore. Thats like getting immunity on Top Chef, or Project Runway. Yeah, its pretty funny they let you create a username, but when you get quoted its censored to "carp". Please vote for this shirt, I want a GREEN shirt and this one is awesome! Id vote for cow tipper but hmmm I think I can only buy 1 brown Cho shirt per week (duck hunt last week). I also like the Marching one by Edgar but that one seems unlikely to get printed...
