Re: Reflection on Letters V. II

The last version was a little plain, so I decided to add some texture. I think it is a little more visually appealing. Thanks for the votes!

As I huge fan of ambigrams and various wordplay, I had the strong urge to applaud out loud (aol?) when I saw this. Awesome work, I've never seen this done with the whole alphabet. 1up.

Edit: d'oh! Plagiarism: 1down

True. Someone else's original artwork.

I don't know, but on a side note, that MC Escher CD looks pretty cool.

It's not even the same style as the Scott Kim Design. It's just the same Idea... Not any different than designing a shirt based on a video game, which is someone else's idea.

When you design based on a video game, it's only acceptable if it's a parody.

This shirt is pretty much the same as the other one. The idea is mirrored letters. If you had mirrored them in a different way, that would be original execution. You simply redrew exactly what this Scott Kim guy created, mirroring the letters the same way - the style is the same. The fact that you drew it does not make it yours.

Wouldn't it be "original" artwork that uses each letter twice?

Re: Reflection on Letters V. II

No, the design is such that it shows each of the 26 letters exactly once, but the right-half of the design is a perfect reflection of the left. This sort of design is called an "inversion", if I'm not mistaken. It's a clever design.

Unfortunately, the cleverness is someone else's.

Sadness; I even briefly looked over some of Scott Kim's stuff to see if this was copied, but missed it. Even if you really believe you made no moral/legal error, at least cite your inspiration.
