Re: The Catch
so sad.

Yeah, it really is a super-downer. But I kinda love it for that
Re: The Catch
I love this illustration, but something seems off with the placement. Perhaps it just the nature of the illustration slant.
Either way, your illustration is quite original and looks great in monotone.
Re: The Catch
You should have named it "We're gonna need a bigger grill."
Re: The Catch
i really like the drawing and style. i think if the water stretched horizontally across the shirt more it would feel more balanced, but it's a great design! GMV
Re: The Catch
this one came out zombtastic! well done! love the classic feel of this scene and just the line work being ink! +1
Re: The Catch
This is really cool. :D
Re: The Catch
Mmm-mmm, tasty plesiosaur. And a sharp illustration, kevlar!
Thanks for the kind words and critiques all!
I'm glad this has been well received. It's much closer to my actual style than the more cartoony designs I've been submitting--so this certainly helps build my confidence going into future derbies.
Re: The Catch
very cool, and i love the colors - any chance of linking to a larger file so we can check out the detail? looks great

Thanks; here's a link to a larger file.
Great sketch . . . but something is bugging me about the perspective of the flying contraption. Because you can see the inside surface of the hull, it makes it seem like the ship is heading down or in some direction other than it should.

Thanks elviswind. Perhaps the plesiosaur is dragging it down?
In reality, I drew the airship with the idea that the viewer is at the same level as the area between the balloon and the gondola. But in hindsight, that was a poor composition choice, as the image would have been much more powerful coming from the waves.

I guess my enthusiasm was premature. Any momentum this one had seems to have completely disappeared. ![]()

Don't give up! Just keep turning in good original work and your fanbase will grow. ![]()

Chin up. It's a really great design. You're joining the ranks of tons of great designs that never got printed at Woot.

thanks for the encouragement!
Welcome! By the way, I think you really have something with this style. I'd keep going in this direction, rather than with the cartoons. It's awesome.

^^ Agree! Woot has plenty of cartoony shirts IMO.
