"What's with the black spots? And take a look at his lunch!"

Both alluding to the controversy of the panda being a bear (some scientists debate that it is in the raccoon family rather than bear), as well as having the 'different' lunch at the cafeteria table... have you ever been that kid?

Re: Odd Bear Out

Oh my god, these are EXTREMELY cute! The expressions/ gestures are PERFECT. I think I would have liked a little more if there wasn't a table, and they were just sitting on the floor, but this is awesome nonetheless! GMV!

I did a different style than usual with the bears, so good to hear. Thanks merzzie!

Yay, thanks avhienda! I did try them sitting on the ground, but it wasn't looking right... not sure if it was my drawing or the concept;) Thanks again

Thanks for the feedback earlier - your point about the table led to the shirt color switch. Glad you think the green works!

Molecular and genetic studies suggest that the giant panda is indeed a true bear (family Ursidae), and the "raccoon debate" has died down significantly in the past several years.

I think this is a pretty cute design, by the way.

@meh3884 - Aw gee! I wouldn't call this one of my super artistic designs, but nice of you to say! I tried a different line style than usual though, so it's nice that it is liked. Thanks meh3884: )

@kbloomq1 - Oh really? I did read about it some more, but I didn't notice the debate receding. Good to know! Thanks kbloomq

Hey, I totally forgot... you're right, it's the 2 year mark around now! And yup, every derby... after a while it became a sort of goal to not miss any 2 years straight though.. it does sound like a long time! o_O Thanks Spiritgreen!

Very cute! Looks like a winner to me. I especially love the panda's expression.

Two years without missing a derby? Really? I admire that dedication. I tried not to miss any derbies for a long time, but eventually decided not to force it when I had no ideas or not enough time... But that's really cool that you stuck to it, I love looking through your archive on shirt.what.

The bears appear to be missing the lower halves of their bodies. Wouldn't you see their legs under the table?

One more gargleblaster - love this!
Totally reminds me of being the "healthy lunch" kid in elementary school! Why no twinkies, mom? Why? Now I'm often the only vegetarian out at group dinners, and it feels very much the same.

And I echo the congrats on 2 years of designing! I just discovered woot a little while ago, but your work is always extremely well-done.

I hope this prints! Good luck!

Yup, apparently 2 years. Usually I have too many ideas (not necessarily good ones;), but there were a few times I struggled for one. And entering every derby didn't always mean I entered in a timely way - sometimes not till the mid-week. Thanks very much kinzoku, and glad you enjoyed going through my archive!

Finding friends who can vote would definitely help increase your chances of getting it. Thanks emberdione!

@Assassin15 - I can see that.

@sTyLeS - These are little kid cubs sitting on a bench. I figured their haunches/legs will almost entirely be on the bench, and hidden by the table because of the angle we are viewing them.

@curiousme - thanks!

I've felt like an oddball like that too, many a time - and definitely no twinkies in my lunch!

Thanks so much on the congrats and kind comments about my work! Much appreciated.
Now that I think about it... it would be neat timing if this printed at the 2nd year - my first print was right around my one year anniversary! Thanks again

@iceburgdesign - I wasn't totally expecting that, but I think it's neat. Thanks!

@phd2001 - Nope, just cautiously munching his bamboo ;) Thanks!

Re: Odd Bear Out

I love this shirt and wish it would have won, but after seeing today's woot as another panda shirt I don't think it'll be coming to us .

One thing I did notice that might make a difference in the future though, is you could have used one more color to make it a black and yellow wood grained table instead of just hollow white lines. Giving the table a little more substance would ease the thoughts that we can't see the bears' legs. Personally I don't think we'd see the legs anyway and like how you drew it, but giving the table a little substance would give it a little more natural feel.

Once again awesome shirt,keep up the good work, and I hope I'm wrong so I get to buy one :D because really, how many of us has been the new kid with the tuna sandwiches while everyone else has PB&J?

EDIT: IT WON!!!!!! IT WON!@!!! Yay double panda beats the odds!!!!!!! Already bought two, one for me and one for my Chinese fiance, perfect shirt! Congratulations and thank you for designing this!!!

Now 100% chock full of little wind-up robots!
