I don't get it. Sure, it looks like it was just submitted five minutes ago, but it should be in the Fog by now.

Thanks a lot! I figured folks don't act to kindly to faces around here. Maybe I should have put a bunny. Harey Grant?
Ugghhh... that was bad....I'm sorry

I saw a wicked witch, tons of king kongs and some nods to casablanca so I thought referencing a movie was ok. And this is one of the great moments in pre-1960s cinema if you ask me.

I really like this! Good idea and appropriately parodied I think. You know what movie it is without being a direct copy of it.
I don't know the details; is this still in Woot's printable area? I'd hate to see it bumped for a technicality like that.
One personal observation: the truncating of the splatter behind the guy is a little unfortunate. Maybe making the graphic smaller so the spray can fade out on the edges naturally would work? That, or moving the spray over so there aren't those cut lines. Just something to keep in mind for your next submission!

I'd be interested to know why Blinddog3D's Seven Samurrabbits was rejected and this has not, since both can be considered direct scenes from the movie. Granted Bruno's was closer to the original on a detail level due to his efforts, but replacing the heads with rabbit heads is just as much parody as "stylizing" the scene, I think.
Not looking for a rejection here since I think this is a great first derby entry, just interested in the applied logic.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
I have a feeling the rejectionator is just a way of keeping the lawyers away. The seven samurabbits, even though done by hand in amazing detail, was still basically a recreation of an existing image which is owned by kurasawa's estate. This isn't directly from any press photos or still frames from the movie so it's refrencing the scene without calling out the lawyers. If I had just traced that movie cover, I'd expect to be rejected right out of the gate. IMHO at least.

I love it, the only thing is the bottom left border looks a bit straightedge compared to the rest (Looking at where the white spray intercepts the bounds).

I love the shirt, but I'm also worried about the rejectionator. Even if you didn't trace anything, it's an iconic shot from a movie that instantly recognizable. It would be hard to imagine the copyright holder in NxNW not being upset about a shirt like this.

Congrats on the first design, and welcome. You definitely have talent.
However, I also think that this design should be rejected, given that it's pretty much exactly a depiction from "North by Northwest", without parody.

I really, really like it.
Great first submission! Definitely right up there and, by rights, should be fogging.
I gotta tell ya, though - the thing that drew me to the thumbnail first was your 'vote' text, using the NxNW arrows. That absolutely iced the cake for me. It's those small details that make a great artist.
Well played indeed, sir! Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future. If it doesn't print here, please keep us informed if this design prints elsewhere.

Thanks so much. I'm glad you picked up on the font. I was worried no one would even get the movie reference! I'll definitely have to start on thursdays now to get them in earlier.

One of my favorite movies of all time! Instant 'I want one' I doubt it will make the cloud, but hoping for an editor's choice. VERY NICE!

Yes unfortunately my little Cary Grant seems to be running out of steam. He's run a long way considering I submitted rather late.
Thanks a lot for the vote.

Wow hope I didn't ruin your whole day. I believe there is a difference between appropriating and making an homage to something though. Sometimes the appreciation is commentary enough.

Well, we know why The Seven Samurabbits got rejected. It was headed to the fog, with a bullet & the green monster reared it's ugly head & the tattletails cried, "please, somebody STOP THIS! It looks just like it, except they have bunny heads and Mt. Fuji in the back but look, every single blade of grass was traced." It's cool. You will never, ever be able to write that in the tattle box ever again on one of my designs.
This design is nothing like that, this is a clean, original, well executed design that conveys exactly what it came from without coming directly off the movie poster. I voted for this and I would buy & wear one, if it prints.

Gah! So close!! Oh well, it did better than I ever could have imagined. Thanks everyone for the support and the votes. You'll definitely see more from me in the future.
Would you other artists recommend going to another site or stick it out for the second chance derbies, provided that mine is chosen?

In my opinion, since when you submitted this shirt, you clicked a little box that says you agree to the terms and conditions, and the terms and conditions say that you're giving Woot exclusive rights to the shirt for 60 days, that you should not be submitting it somewhere else until after that 60 days is over.

Plus I'm glad my boyfriend didn't see this one. We'd have to fight over who would get this shirt (we can't both get the same one. That'd be Jatravartid FYI). :p

Thanks a lot Sammy,
I guess we can keep our fingers crossed and hope that it might come back in the form of a second chance or an editor's choice. If not, then I'll let you know if it ever prints some where else. Maybe even on different color shirts so both you and your boyfriend can get one!
