Gotta say I do like this Ramy and much more on topic. Wish it was a bit larger maybe resize it real fast since you just subbed it.

This. It'd definitely have my vote, if so. Beautiful colors, indeed.

I would be lying if I said this wasn't better than anything I have ever seen you submit. I agree it could stand to be larger, but if you did awesome work like this every derby instead of cute little animals you would get so much less hate.

I can't really go much larger and be within woot's printable area according to their templates- I've found that with these types of designs though, woot always prints them as large as possible anyway

Thanks everyone for the kind words so far on this design.

What if you just made the sun bigger so more of it was showing? Awesome design!

Much better, and - shock - on topic.

Do this more often. Don't shoe-horn in critters where better, thoughtful designs could go.

Re: Aztec Sunset

I don't know, but I think this is a bit rudimentary. It's a solid design by itself yes, but if I were a shirt designer at Tenochtitlan, it wouldn't be my style. It's not really "Aztec"...their art is bold and majestic, symbolic of that typical greatness a civilization encompasses, though I do see your inspiration.

I think you can create something much better than this, that can convey Mexico to a greater extent, ramyB[I am a lurker on Woot so I've seen a considerable number on your designs]. So honestly, this shirt is a bit...flat, and I'm disappointed. It's beautiful in a picturesque, rather than a meaningful, way.

Re: Aztec Sunset

This is an awesome design...very artistic, and one of the few I could actually wear from what I've seen of this derby so far. As others have said, I'd like to see it bigger on the shirt...but if woot's template says it's as big as can be, so be it...GMV fo sho =)

Don't resize it, this is perfect beauty.
Too many shirts are gaudy and headache inducing-enough already.

Re: Aztec Sunset

Nice. I'm not a fan of cranberry, but the colors work so well. Just enough suggestion of the landscape, and the water effect is nice, if a little busy. Good job.

Re: Aztec Sunset

I know your animals sell well, but you seem to do some far more interesting designs when you step away from them - this is so pretty and one I'd actually wear. Sorry zorro turned into such a fiasco for you, but I think this tshirt is far better anyway. You should go outside your comfort zone more often

I actually said "wow" out loud. I don't think I've seen another t-shirt with such a vibrant design that wasn't also hideously garish. Love it.

That's actually the one element that turns me off to the design. The reflection isn't correct for beams from a distant sun...instead, the undistorted reflection makes the sun look like it is resting on the edge of the water. It bugs me.

There's a second time for everything.

This is definitely the best work you've ever done. It's still pretty boring, but it doesn't look like your work, which is about the best compliment you could be given. Sadly, depositing a legitimate check or two doesn't make a bank robber innocent.

YES! Although, ramyb has submitted several other beautiful, truly artistic designs - they rarely win, however.

I completely agree. This shirt is a good design and beautifully rendered. I especially love the sketchy woodblock styling it has. Good work, Ramy. I would love to see more art like this in your future subs.

I'm surprised Adder did it at all, to be honest. I would have expected him to allude to the FACT that Ramy tends to occasionally throw in designs similar to this when cute isn't allowed in or causes problems or even alongside cute. He's done it in the past, but it isn't ever really sustained.

To be completely honest, I'd prefer Ramy to sub in this "style" for a while and let the cute animals become an exception, not the rule, but...meh. It sells, and I don't think it's ever changing, so...

Re: Aztec Sunset

I ... like the outline of the cactus on the hill; but because there's nothing like it on the opposite side -- because there's nothing else like it within the entire design, actually -- I originally thought it was an artist's signature. It's also extremely halftone-heavy. A design like this will look good from far away, but up-close it'll look like a giant mess of circles.

I like certain aspects of this design. And I love the colors on the cranberry shirt. And I'll take this over your cute-animals any day. But a good color palette alone doesn't make for a great design, in my opinion. I think there are more clever ways to use halftones beyond painting a design in Photoshop and relying on the halftone filter to make it printable. That's my piece, anyway.

I believe there's a vaquero next to that cactus also, but can't be 100% sure.

I like this. Nice departure from the cute, and actually glad the Zorro got rejected....this time.

Yeah...looking at it again, it may just be the mountains/tiny cactus casting an illusion of a hunched vaquero. Ah well.
