Re: Lucky Park

Phew! Finished. I've never not used outlines before, but I like the effect it had on the lucky cat statue. Anyways, I think this is a pretty cool design, but I'm a little delirious from staring at the screen, so who knows.

6 colors on light blue.

edit: I forgot to add that the seven statues are the seven lucky gods, and the red things in the front are Daruma dolls.

Re: Lucky Park

I want! Love it. If it doesn't make it here, would you consider making it on Cafe Press and selling it?

Re: Lucky Park

Haha I almost did a design just like this (giant lucky kitty), and then I actually scrapped it thinking 'I bet there is already a landmark like this in Japan somewhere'. I am amused!;D

Heheh, the 7 gods of fortune! I have a moneybox of them riding a giant gold frog that I bought in China. (Epcot, China :p)

Cool shirt, Robbie!

I know what you mean about no working with outlines (It's not my usual either)... This looks marvelous though and you did an awesome job.

Re: Lucky Park

I had to chime back in because I keep clicking on this just to look at it. Aside from the fact that I appreciate Maneki Neko, Daruma and Seven Lucky Gods (and have a number of them at home), I also am just nuts over the look and feel. I could walk into my local Asian market and see similar art on a box of candy or noodles. It's vibrant and awesome!

Godzilla-sized thanks to everyone for all of the great comments (and double thanks to Paige for two of them). Here's hoping for a print this weekend...

I love it. :D
Would vote for it if I could.

By the way, how did you do that type of shading with the dots? Was it a special brush on a certain program, or something? D:

By far the best design in the "landmarks" competition. I am amazed you only used 6 colors. Bravo! WOOT!
