Technically, they saw the far side of the moon for the first time, not the dark side.

I agree. Also, there is no way for the light/shadow patterns on the three objects in space to exist with a single light source (i.e. the sun). But I just chock that up to artistic license.

But you have the rainbows coming out the side of the moon. That feels very Pink Floyd to me.

Just an FYI.. in the Colored dots on the bottom right (your color reference chart) you missed the Purple that you use in the rainbow.

I didn't use Purple in the rainbow - the halftone band at the top is a close-up of the "purple" band, which is a mix of blue and red.
