Re: Toadstool Construction
Dang, this is a fine shirt!
It could have seemed like a throwaway joke but you really sold it with the quality of the illustration. Great perspective.

If this doesn't win, all faith in the derby will be lost.
Re: Toadstool Construction
Ha! I'm doing this same basic premise but with skylight repair for batman...
I am so unoriginal this week,...
Great job though!!!
Re: Toadstool Construction
Just think of it as job security.

Hey.. just reread and realized it may seem as if I meant your idea is unoriginal...
I wasn't saying that- I think your shirt is wonderful... I just meant that both ideas I had this week were done differently (and better) by other people...

I second this notion. The illustration for this is great, you could have gone cutesy, but chose a bit more of an artistic spin and I absolutely love it.

Re: Toadstool Construction
I would never wear this shirt, but this is a very well rendered creative idea. Well done.
Re: Toadstool Construction
Great design - amazing artwork and perspective!
@spiritgreen
Thanks, spirit! I felt the gag would really come from the absurdity of a realistic mason and setting. It took me a while to get his body language right, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
@ohaisup
Never lose faith in democracy! if you do, the communists win.
@Oakenspirit
How dare you! This is the most original Mario shirt ever!
Just kidding! I've seen themes like this before- collateral damage caused by video game/ super heros. That batman idea sounds awesome, only woot has had some trouble with printing batman shirts before, so you should be super careful and nondescript when you do
@bluejester
Thanks dude. I sympathize with people who tire of Mario references, so I tried to make it more than a gratuitous one.
@kylesmiticus
I feel the same way about a lot of my stuff, but I try to make things other people like, and do it in such a way that I can be pleased with it.
@sombrillo
Thanks! I wasn't sure the perspective was going to work. It turned out alright.
Re: Toadstool Construction
Tastefully done in a nice style -- the Mario character is still a little cartoony, but I can forgive that. I mentioned that there was a backlash against SMB, but with artwork like this I'll eat my words.
I wouldn't wear it, but you get what I believe is my second SMB vote ever (the first was this).
Re: Toadstool Construction
Hahaha, good one!
Re: Toadstool Construction
I love the artwork, but the colors seem very washed out (especially on this shirt color). Maybe brighter colors would ruin it, but I feel like I'm looking at a pic where the contrast has been dropped way down.
Re: Toadstool Construction
Very good design and thought process !
Re: Toadstool Construction
The brick block maker needs his own game! Build the blocks before the plumber can bust them.
Great job, and nice use of space.
Best shirt I have seen on here in a long time. LONG time. Love the colors and the faded look. I haven't purchased a shirt.woot shirt yet, but if this one wins, I am going for it.
Re: Toadstool Construction
sweet! i love the colors and the concept. nice detail hanging the clouds by string.

I agree. I feel this is a great poster design, not a shirt design.

I would wear this shirt every day!

I have to disagree, I love the coloring. Gives a great throwback style which fits your drawing perfectly. It's just great!
I am glad to see a good SMB shirt that is not the typical kelly green (yuck!). I also think the content is hilarious. GMV!

May we all strive to sell out with such style and craftsmanship.
